  1. With your re-released 1/48 CAS Vipers sheet inbound, and the new roll out of the new Caracal basics 3D printed details, can we have a GPU-5 gun pod and associated Pave Penny sensors for the CAS Viper-to include the AFTI birds? I can use at least two of the gun pods for a 'Boys from Syracuse' Block 10 and Euro 1 scheme Block 25 with Pave Penny and some mavericks!

The AIM-7 can be taken apart into different sections and somethings the paint didn't match when the parts were put back together:

Nice picture of the business side of the S, too bad there aren't too many pictures of F-4S in general from the 80s/90s floating around on the web. I wish I could've photographed the VMFA-321 F-4S's I would always catch taxing out and coming back in at Andrews back 89/90. Don't recall them toting anything in particular as they taxied to and from their ramp; but I'm sure they would have some type of practice munitions as they routinely went to Dare County range.

  3. Definitely won't be letting those F-15 Early Years or A-10 Gulf War Hogs escape me again this time around! I am starting to notice that I have WAY more Caracal brand decals in my stash than any other aftermarket decal maker...that explains what I'm buying kits later down the road to go with my decals, and not the other way around. Thanks for making awesome decal subjects!

Does anyone can help me with modern F-16 weapon loadout? I am preparing new F-16D and I wish to choice something under the wings, but it could be nice to have configuration similar to real F-16 weapons loadout. I am sure there are special loadouts for e.g. CAS mission, or SEAD strike, or some other sorties, but where can I find them?
Anyone knows such website with those loadout for modern F-16 and modern conflicts? Is there anything like that? Anyone can help?

Curious as to what the 'disc' shaped item in front of the LJDAM on the LEF of the port wing is on this BLK 50, GPS antennae maybe? Not visible on the starboard, so hard to tell if duplicated on that side. Never seen this before, almost looks like a sink mark from the sprue hehe.

  5. Drew,

You're doing a kick a#% job on your F-4E from my home state! I remember seeing these birds flying over my house back in the day. Can't wait to see her all finished up. I fancied to build a 141st TFW Phantom myself but I missed out on the first iteration of Speedhunter 'Gunfighters Phantoms' sheet your using and now it looks like the second promised "Gunfighters Phantoms' sheet from Speedhunter won't happen with the close, well, such is life.

E-bay seems to be the best bet. Spruebrothers just got them and are listing them at $111.99, plus tax and shipping of course. The one I'm watching on E-bay is listed at $89.98 plus $2.00 shipping. Since I'm in no hurry to get it, I'm okay with waiting for it to come (literally) on the slow boat from China, as they say.

    Aaron

Cool, I'll go the same route and buy from Ebay because I too am not in a hurry to get it and surely don't want to pay an arm and a leg for one.

The GWH kit is light years better and more accurate in shape and detail than any other kit thus far.  There’s a great side by side comparison video on YouTube comparing Academy’s D+ effort to the GWH kit, and IMHO it’s no contest.  I know two people who have built it who have raved about it from start to finish. And it doesn’t require a shed load of aftermarket to correct dumb errors that shouldn’t have been made in the first place.

GWH’s A-10A isn’t set up as a LASTE or later bird, and is only really applicable out of the box as an early airplane up through the first Gulf War.  LASTE didn’t come in until after that war was over.  So basically you can do any airplane from the start of production up thru GW1.  Starting with the FY77 serials they had the ACES II seat from the factory.  Any FY76 or earlier serial had an ESCAPAC IE-9 from the factory, but all were eventually upgraded with the new seat by around 1980 or so.  I’m not aware of any A-10 specific ESCAPAC seat, but it won’t surprise me to see one from somebody eventually.  It looks like an A-7D seat, but the breaker bars on top are different.

Thank you, just what I needed to know to make my decision on buying the GWH A-10A-planning a GW1 Nail Fac OA-10A so I'm good to go!! Any places other than Ebay selling them for low prices?

  8. Question for Mr. Vark or anyone in the familiar, is the speed brake interior door color on all F-111s, especially FBs, flat red in color-not alot of decent pictures on the web and of the few I do see, the edges appear red ala Navy aircraft doors. Nearing the paint barn with my Dark Vark and I wanted to be sure and not paint it white just because it's close proximity to the main landing gear and well. Also, is anyone aware of any 1/48 FOD covers for F-111s. I saw G-factor made some, but they seem to be unavailable.

Same here B-ONE27 and correct, on their way to Warren Grove. Our A-10's went there twice a day. My slide collection misses the base as well, I'd say @ 85% of my 10,000+ Kodachromes were shot at Willow Grove.

    Steve

I'm with you Steve. I surely appreciate anytime you post pics from Willow Grove, it was such an awesome base and the late 80s and early 90s was such a great time for me and my love of military aviation as a kid growing up, so many awesome aircraft back then! I miss those 'Diamondback' scooters; could hear them coming in the house and would dart outside just in time to catch a 4xship, or 2xship, followed by a pause and then another pair after that. I have 0024 built in low-vis scheme in my display case. BTW Steve, you have a kick fool man cave, I especially like the taxi light addition to, not to mention 0024s tailhook and rudder, I'd stay down there all day long!

I know the person who painted her plus, I photographed her many times, she was Gloss Gull Gray and Insignia White. Here she is on May 21, 1994 on the MAG ramp at NAS JRB Willow Grove.

Boy do I miss those days. They used to fly over my house in Trenton all the time going to Warren Grove ranges I'd imagine. Miss JR Base Willow Grove as well 😞

  11. Was perusing FlyingLeatherNecks and Phasehangerresins and did not see any so I was wondering if any consideration be given on some 3-D print 1/48 & 1/32 wheel chocks. I'd be interested in USAF versions with ropes; if possible in 3D print capabilty, and the unique style USN/USMC versions with adjustable arms. Both wood and metal iterations from Vietnam till present would be great.
