  1. A few videos and why the airbrush is preferred.

He mentions thinning the top coat. Scott already mentioned multiple thin layers.

After a few tries you will get the hang of it, and decide if you like how it makes your models look.

Keep asking questions and trying things out. Practice will make perfect.

  2. Well, this is a good learning experience. My first kit was a complete disaster. CA glue all over the place same as you.

Posting pictures is a good start so that we can see what fixes can be suggested. You might be able to save the canopy with a round of sanding and polishing, the decals, well, maybe someone here can donate or sell you a sheet? Failing that, you can contact Revell for the purchase of new parts: Revell

Even if you cant rescue the kit, keep it. It will become a technique test mule. Preshading, post shading, camo masking, salt weathering chipping etc etc etc.

  3. Take a look at this video. Sure it is for a tank, but I think the technique is transferable. Turn off the sound on your system. I did not like the song myself. This is just one way really.

Remember to use good quality oil points, and that less is more.

Pointy brush to apply the oil/thinner & a flat style brush to create the streak effect. The modeller also looks to take a fair bit of the thinner off the brush onto the towel which matches the AK videos also on Youtube.

    Hope this helps.

I like the kit. It may have a few things that need updating/correcting, but, it is very impressive when built.

Here is a build with an idea on the wings: 1/32 build

I have yet to find or hear of seamless intakes for this kit. I wonder if anyone may do a partial set i.e. intake to engine face?? Is that feasible?

  5. It's a surreal experience watching a dalek scooting around the show singing 'I'm off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz...'. Still more so watching a group of them singing 'happy birthday' to an eight year-old.

They also do charity collections :D/>/>

Thanks for informing me of these added attractions.

It would be fantastic to see the volunteers in action singing happy birthday, what a laugh. Hopefully someone can post a video?

I hope that everyone that goes has a great time.

  6. In addition we will have the Daleks - there is an 'audience with the Daleks' on Saturday afternoon in the lecture hall and they will be patrolling the show all weekend.

This sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing pictures. One of these days I will go.

  7. Air supply option:

portable air tank Could always tell your parents that it can be used to fill up tires etc.

As with the tires/tubes previously mentioned, it will need refilling, probably at the local gas station. You will need to plan your airbrushing so that you do not run out of air mid session. You may need an adapter from the tank outlet thingy to the airbrush hose.

    1) Work in a well ventilated area

    2) Never airbrush around others

    3) Respirator: Respirator Smithery offers excellent advice. Go to a safety supply store and get a fitting and training. No idea what the big box hardware stores are like in your area, but no one I ever met at one of these stores knew how to do fittings. The mask will last you a long time, the filters if you shop around are reasonably priced.

  8. Thank you for your answer.

I just read about the spaghetti technique. And I think that this is the right way to go. Of course that means trying different sizes of spaghetti, but it looks to work.

    Technique is:

    1) Airbrush the surfaces to receive the squiggles in the squiggle colour

    2) Boil appropriately sized pasta

    3) Lay pasta in squiggle pattern down on the surface of the kit

    4) Paint the 2nd colour

    5) Rinse model with warm water

Dont eat the pasta after painting!

Whoever came up with this, it is a great idea.

Edit for typos. Where is my coffee?!?!?!
