anotherP51nut
I don't know if this is old news but I came across this on a couple of Polish aviation forums. A replica of the PZL.37B Łoś bomber is being constructed at the Mielec plant, on the same floors as they were in 1939. It is being built of aluminum and steel scraps by workers at the plant who expect it to be finished sometime this year. Unfortunately it is intended that this replica will be stored outside beside examples of other aircraft built at the plant. Because few drawings and documents survived, and no examples were preserved, the team is working from photos and drawings that do exist. Some aviation historians have expressed concerns that this replica will be more of a caricature than a replica. It's difficult to tell from the video how close they are. Regardless, it's an interesting and impressive project that I hadn't heard about before. Here is some video from TVP, Polish Television. You may not understand Polish (doesn't everyone?), but the images speak for themselves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtdagUQzIuI&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BsJmF7Zkk8 Richard
Steve N
Cool! I've always like the Los, and wish one had been preserved. SN
