BellyUpFish
Hey guys- I picked up a 1/48 OV-10 years ago and broke it out today to start looking it over. It's 97.96734% complete. Missing one of the spinners. I guess the seller knew this (and I should have looked it over better after receiving it) so he threw in what looks like a spinner from the same model, already glued with a busted prop. Looks like run of the mill CA or model glue, not a plastic welder. Is there anything I can soak these parts in that will dissolve the glue but not eat the plastic so I can salvage the spinner? Exhausted
First, try putting it in a ziplock bag and freezing it. It only takes about 45 minutes for the plastic to shrink and the bonds to break. After you've cooled the parts, you may find yourself gently persuading the separation with a prying tool. It's important you put it in a bag so the pieces don't get lost if they separate early. Edited July 5, 2015 by Exhausted
