Julien (UK)
Anyone have any photos, or link to photos of a defiant being used in the SAR role. Looking specifically for the dinghy canisters carried. Thanks Julien
muttley
Hi Julien, I've been looking for similar info. Unfortunately I lucked out as far as the Deefiant is concerned although I have drawings for the dinghy canister on a Lysander from the same period, which I suspect will be pretty much the same. It was basically a rectangular box canister that fitted to a standard RAF light bomb carrier. If you want I'll photocopy this info and post it to you, along with some other bits and pieces I've got regarding aircraft types and serials for the rescue squadrons (there's not much but I'm happy to share). Just e-mail me and we'll sort out addresses etc... Glad to help, Bob aka Muttley

Julien (UK)
Cheers, for the picture, do you know if they were carried under both wings or just one? Cheers, Julien
