David Walker
I was flipping through an issue of Airliners this week (I think it was Airliners anyway) and there was a photo of a 737-200 flying for East African Airlines. In the caption it mentioned that it was ex-Frontier, (the first Frontier, not the current one) ex-United. As I flew the -200 for two and a half years I thought maybe it might be one I was familiar with. Sure enough, once upon a time it was N998UA which I flew six or eight different times. I wonder how much longer it will continue to soldier on? With East African Airlines last summer: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0885057/M/ With United back in 2000: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0079416/M/
scotty100368
Something for modellers to note with the East African pic... Not only new-build aircraft, but newly-refurbished used aircraft don't have corogard panels on the wings and stabilisers - so, no need to mask/paint them or scrounge for decals! New finishing technology/techniques mean they are becoming redundant. Scott. Edited February 20, 2006 by scotty100368
David Walker
Interesting point. I hadn't noticed that.
David Walker
I found several other ex-UAL 737-200s that I had flown still out there: 977UA, now with Sky King: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0995072/M/ 983UA and 985UA with Star Peru: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0839119/M/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0992036/M/ 988UA with Global Air: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0970885/M/ 982UA with Nova Air: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0921214/M/ and 995UA in a fantastic paint job (though a little chipped) with Adam Air: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1000730/M/ And finally 984UA playing itself but with rather poor posture: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0301661/M/ Edited February 20, 2006 by David Walker
