I live to fly and drop bombs
  1. Yes, I emailed him last fall. A few months after my first email he emailed me back (Nov 2010) saying he was working on it, but I haven't heard anything else about it. I've never done a vac formed kit and I'm thinking I should get a small one to learn with first. Anyone have experience with them?
  2. You were an EWO? Don't think I could get used to being backwards, although at least you can turn around and see out the window up there. Talking about EWO's makes me want some cookies...
  3. aircraft is 0038, nose art "38 Special"
  4. Here's the jet I flew today. And here'w what it looks like in my section downstairs.
  5. Alas, I suppose I'll just deal with flying in the real thing for the time being. Would love to add 'my' aircraft to my model collection though. Unfortunately it'll be out of scale to the rest of my 1/48 USAF jets.
  6. Are the resin kits still available? Seems like some of the older posts were complaining about availability. Thanks
  7. I'd really love to build a modern H version, but now I'm a little put-off from the idea from reading this thread. Are resin fixes still available to correct one of the awful 52H kits?
  8. So why do they sell the MM Lacquer clear coat with the MM Enamel paints? Seems they should separate them like they do the acryls. This seems like a recipe for disaster for inexperienced modelers. They paint their model using all MM enamels, then go to put the protective lacquer clear coat on at the end that they bought right there next to their enamel color paints only to ruin it. I looked on testor's site and it appears that they do make an enamel clear coat, but that is never what you find in the LHS with the enamel paints, it's always the lacquers in my experience. So now I'm trying to
  9. I just found out about it today when I stopped by Bobe's, so I haven't made plans yet. Training has kept me too busy to complete anything to enter myself, but I'll see about it still.
  10. So if I read this table correctly, Then the only time I can use the lacquer clear coat is if I used lacquer the whole time? Am I reading this table correctly?
  11. It's been about 2 months since my last coat of Model Master Enamel was applied to my model. Is it safe to apply lacquer gloss clear coat now so I can apply my wash and decals? Or is there something else I need to use for a clear coat?

    Missile colors

Reddog, Thanks! That's just the info I was wondering. Trying to distinguish the metal tones, steel and gunmetal, cool Yep Aaron, got those decals, and they're great! Great pics Murph, good detail pictures, I was just searching the Jet forums, didn't even know about the research section. Thanks!
  13. Can some of you weapon pros help out with missile colors and markings? Working on my F-15E and trying to paint my A-A missiles correctly. For the AIM-9s and AIM-120As I have them painted light gray, but am not sure of the color of the nose cone on the AIM-9s and the tail fins on the 120s. In most photos it looks like steel? Can anyone help out, any other details would be great as well. Thanks
  14. Just picked up a bottle of super clean from Wal-mart and a big tupperware bin. Will be good to have on hand in case another emergency. You think this is a good way to pre-clean models before working on them?
  15. hopefully with the extra sanding I did the seams will be good to go, so probably just a couple more coats of MM on it (to make sure paint is even) then go with the gloss coat for washing
