Thanks Pete, the pencil line is a good idea. I've not scribed the doors yet but will let you know later how it goes. Chris

OMG unbelievable detail and amazing work.. -
All sub assemblies are now undercoated with gray primer. I know it’s not a good colour to use but it makes it easier for me to see the condition of the seam lines/joins etc and make it easier to spray the white. The launch pad has now been sprayed. It now needs a coat of clear and some weathering. I think it would look better if it had that scorched look but I do not know how to re-create that look. The SRBs have their first coat of off white. Unfortunately I’m still having problems with the centre seam line on the cargo bay doors. The problem is that the line is not very nice afte

Thanks Hotdog, a very interesting. It's going to cost a little to much for me so I've had to decide to leave the masts.

Hi all, sorry for the long time between updates, it’s been so busy in work these last 3 months. I’m finally now on holiday and able to make progress. First, thanks for everyone’s kind comments and advice. I have to say this kit is hard work but I will get it completed. So, I’ve now got the wing roots filled and blended in. I’ve also corrected this part. Thanks Bill and Mike for pointing out the SRB cone joint. I added a piece of styrene rod around the cone to give it a ring look. I don’t think this looks totally correct but it will have to do. Fitted the Aft Separation Motor Mod

Hi all, a small update from a few weeks ago. I’ve finally got the doors finished. I used plastic card and filler to fill the gaps. It took multiple filling and sanding to get them right and blended in with the fuselage. The final results after sanding I’ve also got the tracks filled, sanded and re-scribed but I forgot to take a picture of the finished tracks. I’m finally now able to fit the wings. Off course as with the rest of this kit, they too will take some work as they require filling and sanding to get them blended into the fuselage. Looking at ref photos the wings are fa

Sorry Mike but no, I will not be detailing the MLP. This build is taking me so long, I don't want to do any more than I have to, to complete it. If I could spend more time in my hobby den, I would like to detail the MLP but at the moment it's a struggle to get the time. :( Chris

Amazing work, you’re a true artist -
So first I fitted the cargo bay but instead of fitting it so the top of the part was flush with the shuttle side walls I fitted it a couple of mm higher. This will then give me something to fill against when I come to filling all the gaps later. I also fitted a bit of card at each end for the doors to rest on so there will be at the correct position when fitted. Then using bits of sprue I made three thick rods and fitted these inside the cargo bay to straighten the side walls. I've now started on the MLP. The main platform is built but the tracks are going to take some work. The platfo

Hi all, more progress made.. The SRBs are now finished. The extra rings are on and the braces are completed. I also finally managed to get the gaps around the windscreen filled and smoothed out. It took four goes at filling and sanding before it was right :rolleyes:/> The next job is to tackle the doors. As you can see they are a rubbish fit. In the above picture I'm trying to show that the shuttle side walls are not straight but curve inwards whereas the doors are straight, so making the gaps worse. This is the worst kit I have had the pleasure of building :angry:/>

A small update this week. These blocks at the top of the SRBs are now done as is the blocks at the bottom. I'm still working on the gaps around the windscreen; this area is a bit problematic. Using 0.5mm strip card I have made these brown rings, I need to buy 0.6mm rod to make two extra rings on each SRB and then complete the third wider brown ring. I've also started adding the braces, Thanks for your kind comments More later Chris

This is a very clever idea Manfred. I will have to give this some thought. Thanks you for sharing. Chris

Thanks Mike and Hotdog for your suggestions on the tank. I've not made the change yet as I can't make up my mind at the moment. A small update this week. I've been making the changes to the SRBs. I made the bottom part from plastic card. The top part will be removed soon, I've also started making the block at the bottom of the SRBs, The landing gear doors and now finished, The rear part is now filled and sanded, I'm still working on sorting out the gaps around the windscreen, Thanks for looking.. Amazing work Manfred, fantastic attention to detail -
Fitted the undercarriage doors, which were bad fits, so I needed to use plastic rod and filler to fill the gaps. Fitted the tops to the SRBs. I mentioned earlier that I may lose some of the raised detail, which unfortunately I did. I've been thinking how to get around this problem but I cannot come up with an answer. I tried an experiment on a scrap part with very fine fishing line and super glue to replace the raised detail but this did not work as the glue would not hold the line in place unless I used lots of glue. If anyone has any suggestions/ideas please let me know. Thanks for
