  1. OK - lets go on with the body paint...
  2. Hi everyone! Thanks Bigasshammm! The interior was the easy part... Thank you, Hulk! Do not expect too much - as I wrote in the first post the body finish is far from perfect. I will send pictures of the car body in the next post. Thanks Shawn! I build aircraft models, started with 1/72 a decade ago but later I switched to 1/48. Check the links in my signature... :) Cheers, Zoli
  3. Second part... I hope you like it. Cheers, Zoli
  4. Hello everyone! I usually build aircraft models but as a big fan of Lamborghini cars decided to build a five-car collection: Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, Gallardo and the Aventador. This is the build diary of the Fujimi Murcielago, the very first car model I have ever built. The model is already finished and I will post the diary pictures here. I was not really satisfied with the final look of the car - as this is my very first one, I didn't know much about how to achieve a smooth gloss finish. Anyway, I will practice on a crap model and hope the best on the next one. So, first part of the
  5. Hi everyone! Finally I decided that I won't build this monster - since then I got the Tamiya kit as a Xmas gift and at least that looks buildable... Meanwhile I built the Fujimi Murcielago and - as this was my very first car model - the body paint was far from perfect (will post the whole diary into the in-progress forum). I read a lot of tutorials, seen many videos about glass-smooth finishing but as a modeler I know that it is nothing without practicing. So I grabbed this model to get some practice in smooth finishing. I will try to reproduce the appropriate steps and post pictures about t
  6. Hi everyone! Just a small update for today - "decal painting". I do not really like walkway decals - it is better to paint them and fade them with some airbrushing. TBH, the fading could be a bit stronger in this case but it is OK for me in this form either. I also painted the top of the vertical stab as it had a decal but the surface is too irregular to put a decal onto it. Photos: I hope you like it. This might be my last post till Xmas as tomorrow the little ones won't go to the kindergarten so their daddy can't inhale the paint fumes all day... Merry Christmas to a
  7. Hello everyone, many thanks for the kind words. Thanks Laz! Thank you Chuck - kind words from a master modeler! I can just hope that the final result of this project will be OK and I won't mess it up. Thank you USMC6094! Today's update in the next post... Cheers, Zoli
  8. Hi everyone! Thanks Honza! It is nice to see one of the real master modelers in my topic! Panel line around the radome: good spot, thanks for pointing this out. TBH, I simply forgot to rescribe it. The Italeri kit's nose cone had a bad fit, I had to sand and fill a lot and finally that panel line gone and was not scribed again. As it seems to be too late to fix it, this will be the first on the long list of known problems on this model. Thank you Shawn! Cheers, Zoli
  9. Hi everyone! Today I masked and painted the black parts on the airframe. Nose cone, anti-glare panel, etc. Check out the photos. I like this plane more and more as it takes shape with the paint on. The next part will be painting the walkways on - instead of using decals. Cheers, Zoli
  10. Hello everyone! First of all, many many thanks to you all for the kind words! Laz, thanks a lot! I hope I won't ruin my reputation later on. I wish I would be at least close to master class... I'm still just a hobbist, remember? ;)/> Thanks, Barracuda250! I learnt most of these techniques here on ARC forums. Thanks Jesse! I learnt this technique here on ARC forums somewhere. There's another version of it, similar to post-shading - I have seen that many times on Spanish modeling forums. Paint the surface using the original color without any tricks, "preshade" it with black (or a c
  11. Hi everyone! Thank you, cabo91! I hope now I will have the necessary time to push it closer to the finish line! :) A quick update from the start of the Xmas holiday just to prove that this build is still rolling... Today's update is about painting the Light Gull Gray on the top side. I used the same method as on the bottom side - painting the middle of the small panels with the color and blend the preshaded panel lines into the surface later. Photos: I quite enjoyed the process as the surface colors were developed while I was airbrushing it. Hope you like and comment it!
  12. Hello everyone! Sorry for not replying earlier but life got in the way again - panic before the release date as it is usual in the IT sector. Thus I do not have too much time to continue the paintwork - but some panels on the upper side had already received the first layer of gull gray color (sorry, no photos yet). Thanks Gianni! I will use the kits decal sheet, it says August 1974. But I do not really want to paint that curved black scheme on the nose. I prefer the straight one with having those small "intakes" on the nose also black. Thanks Mario! Thank you very much Volodya! I w
  13. Hi Laz, thanks a lot! You are absolutely right in both. Yes, I left it a little grayish as I did not want a "brand new white", "factory fresh" look. Still thinking about adding some dirt. I like the contrast when on an otherwise white but dirty plane the "factory fresh white" missiles "pop out", showing a totally different shade of white. I guess you have seen it on many photos and know what I mean. On the other hand the light (and the camera) I use is not a studio quality thing, so the plane looks even more grayish because of it. Markings: VFA-213 decals will be used from the kit - the sha
  14. Hello everyone! Thank you Daryl! Hi Santtu! Thanks for the kind words! Today I would like to post a brief update about painting the bottom side of the aircraft. My painting method is not the fastest but I am glad with the result. I hope you will like it. The next step is to paint the top side, the black on the nose and painting the many small parts (almost all of them will be white - a bit boring color). I am still hesitating about painting the walkways or using the decals instead. Cheers, Zoli
  15. Many thanks, guys! :) Thanks Eric! The lines are not really straight if you take a closer look. It was done freehand - I used quite low air pressure and thin black paint. Thus I had to paint over every line 4-5 times (or more) to make the paint cover the surface. This means that every line is an "average" - and the errors are not really visible as the paint was thin. Thank you, Clif! Hi Laz! All modelers are mad, aren't we? ;) If my hands were stable, I would use thicker paint and would do the same thing much quicker. Painting this "web" onto the aircraft took 2x2 hours of my life..
  16. ...continued from previous post. Next challenge: painting the bottom side. See you next time! Cheers, Zoli
  17. Hi everyone! Thanks! You know, so many models, so little time... I built other models meanwhile. Today I post pictures about the preshading process. I decided to try to preshade every rivet lines and this was a challenge for my average airbrush and my painting skills also (not to mention my not too stable hands). But the final result seems to be acceptable by my opinion... Pictures... Another post to follow with more pics...
  18. Hi Mike, thanks a lot! TBH I learned many of these tricks on the ARC forum. This includes the info on photos thing also. Unfortunately I can't draw nice girls and superb comics like ChuckW does... :) Hi Robert, thank you! I use simple tools: a "metal ruler" cut from a soda can and an old dart to make the rivets. And noooo, I'm not the HB riveter - I hope my rivets are smaller. ;) Cheers, Zoli
  19. Hi everyone! The landing gear wells are finished yesterday and I shot some photos if you do not mind... ;) You will see a lot of inaccuracies on the pictures (e.g. the pencil lines a bit ugly) but please keep in mind that these are macro photos and the wells are much smaller in real life... You know, the digital camera is sometimes our worst enemy. ;) And now I have to buy another glass of Tamiya Flat White and mask the wheel wells... That's all for today, thanks for checking! Cheers, Zoli
  20. Hi RoCat, thanks a lot! Hi Steven, many thanks! I simply enjoy scratchbuilding parts - and do not want to wait and hunt for aftermarket stuff... Hi Laz, gentlemens' agreement is kept... ;) Hi JMan, thank you! Update is coming in ten minutes! Cheers, Zoli
  21. Hi everyone! This project is still not dead... just the progress is waaaay too slow. The whole fuselage including wings was assembled, then the gaps were fixed and some masking was done to prepare the painting process. That's all for now - I hope you like this. I'm currently masking and painting the wheel wells. Next time I will post images of it. Cheers, Zoli
  22. Hi Laz, no problem - I'm serious. I want to clean up the WIP section of the shelf... ;) Hi ThunderWeasel, thanks for the kind words. Scratchbuilding is a great fun! :) Cheers, Zoli
  23. Thank you guys! This one is quite special as I just turned 40... :D Cheers, Zoli
  24. Hi! Mareku, thank you! But real detail masters build 1/18 Tomcats, aren't they? ;) That model is truely inspiring for me... Thanks a lot, canadadry1! I will concentrate to this model until it will be finished! Cheers, Zoli
  25. Hi everyone! I touched this model in 2011 January last time. Since then I finished other models - now it's time to get back to this one and complete it. Before assembling the intakes and the airframe the area behind the intakes should be painted. So I finished and masked the cockpit to be able to paint the sides. See you next time... B) Cheers, Zoli
