  1. Thanks, I'm verry happy with the plotter. You have to experiment a bit to find out what works. After that it is a verry useful tool. Regard, Eric
  2. Build this kit out of the box. I used Tamiya paints and designed my own templates for all the markings using a Silhouette Cameo for cutting them out. Overal a very good kit if you take your time dry fitting everything. Best regards, Eric Home made templates using Adobe Illustrator software and Silhouette Cameo for cutting them out of kabuki paper.

Thx everyone Joel, i'll give it a try and will describe step by step how i went about. 1. I used Mr Color Super Metallic en Alclad 2 for the metal parts. 2. Tamiya paints where used to paint the red band around the nose and tail, and also the anti glare shield and black nose. 3. A sharp knife was used to chip some paint of all these colored parts, except for the nose off course . 4. Put on the kit decals without a varnish coat because the silver was smooth enough. And the decals reacted pretty good to the DACO decal softener i use. 5. Then came a coat of Tamiya XF86 flatt clear to ble

Hello Here is my rendition of Kitty Hawk's 1/32 Sabre Dog. Build it out of the box with only some brake lines added. Even used the kit decals. For me this was a speed build as it only took 5 months to complete Best regards, Eric
  5. Hey Michel. Really looking forward in seeing your build up and personel next sunday on the contest. Eric
  6. Thx guys. For an in betwener i'm quit happy with how it turned out. Eric
  7. Thx guys. To be honest, I have a couple of builds that are even older and are buried deep in my stash waithing to be dug up and finished. Maybe some day, when I have more time. Eric
  8. Completed this kit a couple of months ago. Bought it when it hit the shelves as a fun in between project. Finished it in under two months, what for me is a speed build. Build it straight from the box. Even used the kit decals, which weren't bad. Happy modelling, Eric Juvyns
  9. Started this one when it first came out in 2001. After a couple of weeks it ended on my shelve of doom. Now, 13 years later I finaly finished it. This was my first try at chipping with Maskol. The technique worked verry well. I only went a little over board with the chipping. But in the end I'm happy with my rendition of a well used Zero. Happy moddeling, Eric Juvyns
  10. Thx guys. Well Jim, it does. With some TLC it looks better then the update set I bought. That's a thought, but I think I will linger on around here. As you said, it's a good start, but for me it usually stops at that. I have started a lot of kits but haven't really finished that much. So for this one I hope to have it finished this year but it probably won't happen. Thx anyway for pointing it out. Now, on to the cockpit. Eric
  11. Here we are again with the new offering from Academy. It's my intention not to go overboard on detailing and thus only addressing the issues that bug me.To begin with are the intakes. I ordered the seamless intakes from Alley Cat thinking they would be an improvement and relatively easy to install. I was wrong. They are a rather poor casting of the kit intakes. So I set upon making my own seamless intakes. Next up are the horizontal stabilisors. I set upon correcting the allignement of the tabs (don't know how they are called). This was eassier then I thought. That's it up t
  12. Thx guys. Little update. First paint applied and some drybrushing done. Now on to some weathering Eric
  13. Started this one a couple of weeks ago but only got around taking pics yesterday. So here is my progress so far. I started scratching the pit and realised after a couple of days that photo-etch would make it faster and easier. So I ordered the interior and exterior set from eduard. And continued the build combining my own parts with some photo-etch. To be continued. Eric
  14. Part deux :coolio:/> That's it folks. Thx fo all the replies. They kind of motivate me to start an in progress post of my curent project. But on the other hand, I'm a lazzy basterd, so it probably won't happen. Happy modelling, Eric
  15. By popular demand some (in two posts, there where more than I hought :whistle:/> ) in progress shots. The camo was painted feehand using model master paints.
  16. THx everyone :D/> Indeed the wing assembly has a relative big gap. But it is easy dealth with with some plasicard and CA glue. The biggest problem I had was how to paint such a big model. So I opted to paint the fuselage and wings separately and join them afterwards. If you want I can post some pics of this process. An other thing is that in my opinion the main landing gear is not strong enough. And then mostly the way the wheels are attached to the struts. FOr the the rest it's a relative enjoyable build. Nope, in my opinion this was not really necessary.
  17. My latest build. Took me a little over 13 months to finish. Put some exta detailing on it but not as much as I could have. Also kept it rather clean as it is a relative new machine. Colors are those used by the BAF (Belgian Air Force) in the 80's ans I thought it would look beter in SEA colors then in the boring grey livery in which it will probably be deliverd somewhere in 2018/19. Its not a show stopper as there are a few booboo's when you look at it up close and personal. But I'm happy with it. That's it. Thanks for looking, Eric Juvyns
  18. Made some more progress. I realy like those colorful navy birds. But all that masking sometimes takes the fun out of it. I airbrushed the tail because I knew the decals wouldn't work on such a curved surfache. It isn't perfect, but it will do after some weathering. And than we have to mask the canopy. Below you can see my two prefered methodes. First using bare metal foil and second, using KIP tape (I find this slightly better than Tamiya tape and much cheaper) cut into small strips and Maskol. Till next time. Eric
  19. ... and now trying to finish it. It stranded when it was time to start painting. I needed something I could finish in short period of time to get me on track again with some of my more ambitious builds. So this is where I am so fare. Did some preshading and put on the white and started on the grey. Hope to get this one done before the end of the month. Eric
  20. Thx everyone :D these replies really got me motivated for my next build. Which is going to be the 1/32 Trumpeter F-100D with some extras (Aires pit, exhaust, wheel bays and some photo-etch from Eduard) Eric
  21. Not much to say. Build it almost out of the box, only adding wiring in the pit and the engin compartment. The last realy tested my patient :D , but I got over it. I know it isn't perfect with the usual faults and screw ups that always seem to happen to me, but I'm happy with the end result. Used the new Tamiya colors, XF 81-81-83, to paint this beaty. All markings where sprayed on using self made masks from frisket. The only decals used where the small lettering. I was glad I didn't use the rest of the decals because they realy suck bigtime. End of part 1 Eric
  22. Well, after only 2 months it is over and done with. For me this was a quick build in the sense that it normally takes me up to a year to finish a model. Here are some pics, more can be found at the "display case". I know it isn't perfect with the usual mistakes and srew ups, but I'm happy with it. Happy modeling, Eric
  23. Thx everyone ;) At the moment I'm working on the last few items. With a bit of luck it will be finished tomorrow and I Will be able to post some pics my rendition of a Spit. :P Thx Zidane. To be honest I didn't do anything special. Just used Tamiya tinner and to my own surprise the colors dried out leaving a satin shine to them. Maybe Tamiya altered their formula, but the I can't say I noticed something different when using them. Hopes this helps. Have fun, Eric
  24. Thx Starflyer. I can understand the confusion, so to clarify things I used the new Tamiya colors. At first I didn't have these and tried what I thought was the best match for the colors, so XF-53, but I wasn't sure about it so I went out and bought me the new exact colors at my LHS. And to confuse you again. You can use XF-53 because you can hardly see a difference between this one and the new color (to lazy to go upstairs and check the correct number  ) Eric
