  1. Trumpeter also has you load a mix of Mk.81 (250 lb) and Mk.82 (500 lb) bombs on each MER. I don't think that was done in practice as it would present all sorts of bombing solution and salvo problems to the pilot/bombardier. No problem, though, nearly all of the ordnance in the kit is misshapen and incorrectly sized (to my eye, anyway). I'll leave off the kit ordnance and find aftermarket alternatives.

Finished today, Zvezda’s C-130E Hercules in SEA camo. The Zvezda kit is really stellar compared with the old Italeri kit. It has a LOT of interior detail that you won’t likely see unless you look straight into the opened cargo ramp. Since I wanted this model to be closed up, interior detail would never be seen. So I saved a LOT of time by not installing any interior behind the cockpit bulkhead.

The kit comes with a lot of alternate parts. Nominally a C-130H, there are parts that will represent earlier variants such as a stock C-130E from the Vietnam War - early short sponsons, simple clear windows with no ECM stuff - just dirt simple. I painted the model with Mr. Color lacquers and used the Advanced Model Products pre-cut vinyl “Aero Masks” for the camo pattern. For the scalloped bottom color demarcation line, I used a craft scissors (probably for scrapbookers). The markings come from Caracal sheet 72-117. Antenna lines are EZ Line. No. 22 for the year.

The Canadair Mk. 5 had the 6-3 hard wing, and  Mk.6 had a 6-3 wing with slats, unlike any other variant of the Sabre, and no one has ever made a kit of it.

If I'm not mistaken, the 1/72 scale Hobbycraft Canada/Academy Mk.6 and "F-86E" kits both have the unusual 6-3 slatted wing.

Is that the hasegawa kit? Or What did you use?

Hasegawa CMV-22B kit. They don't show that you can swing the wing in the instructions, but if you clip off the smaller pin in the wing, it can swivel on the larger pin. The nacelles are moveable in the kit. But the blades had to be replaced by the Black Dog resin set. Now it's ready for markings. I like that Mount Fuji one.

  5. Who's "we"? This thread is called "Possible New Topics?", right? Steve, why don't you start a "Waiting on . . . " thread for complainers, and leave the "wishin' and hopin'" customers here to plan for the future.🙂

  6. Though fairly rare and perhaps difficult to assemble for some, the PJ Productions resin kit is outstanding. I built mine more than 15 years ago, seen here with Superscale decals. From what I've seen in on-line photos, the Special Hobby kit looks pretty nice.

  7. That's what I thought would happen to the "new" C-130 from Zvezda before it came out. But sure enough, it came in well under $100 and had lots of interior detail. We shall see. But if they go full bore on the interior and open ramp, and other details on the C-17, that will surely push it close to $200 – or more.

  8. I think it has been pencilled in for several years. I think the wisest path is to provide a simple interior - basic cargo deck and flight deck - and get the price under $100. Leave all the super detailing and interior stuff for the aftermarket. Not everyone needs a lot of interior detail that can't be seen when the model is finished. Or provide all that extra detail in a "sold separately" kit for the folks who enjoy it.

  9. I'm still waiting patiently, too. Last year, Kinetic posted a picture of the box-art painting, and I think they indicated that it would be out in early 2023. But nope. They've been saying it's coming for about five or six years now. I wish they would just take my money.😕
