  1. The Osprey has come on my radar screen. My son is an MV-22 pilot in the Marines. He wants a model built in his squadron markings and that project will be in 1/72 using the Hasegawa kit. Anything I make will be for that kit first. The 1/48 scale kit has a very difficult to fix flaw from the start, that hump on the upper wing/fuselage is wrong. What ever else there is will have to be researched with up to date references which I do not have and with out help from some one who knows I may not pick them all up. One thing at a time with this idea.

congrats to your son , I have had to use the MV-22 USMC a few times for rides back from Fort Irwin. I must say during the transition from hover to forward flight it gets a bit bumpy, but it can certainly haul fool when it needs to get up and go. I do understand one thing at a time. I totally rebuild the hump on top for my 1/48 scale AFSOC CV-22B version , but I am hung up on modifying the sensors on the tail. I am almost out of ideas and options. I did buy on EBAY a beautiful decal sheet and a CD with great pics of the MV-22 from VMM-162,261,263,204 and VMX-22. There is a new Squadron in Action series on the V-22 but little on the AFSOC version.

  2. count me in for a set , since I have two HH-43 sitting in my closet needing to be built. But also on that same note , Chris is there any thoughts or moment toward producing an update set for the Italeri 1/48 V-22 to convert it to a CV-22B AFSOC aircraft ?

  3. I am considering doing a tribute build for a fellow veteran who used to be a Chinook Flight Engineer deployed to Iraq, and I am looking for a 1/48 (preferably) or 1/35th scale kit. Does anyone have one of these that they are willing to part with? My budget is limited but I am willing to pay a fair price. This guy has put his own demons aside to be a mentor and trainer for other veterans, and I would like to do something cool for him in return.

    Cheers!

    -Ramon

As one aircrew member to another I have a couple in 1/72 I can part with. message me if you are interested. 1/48 and 1/35 are going to be big but cool.

  4. Where did you pick it up at?

My friend is the one who did the photo for the box art.

    Aaron

Your friend is Josh Kaiser , cool. I actually found it on the back pages of Ebay models , military , helicopters. Oh a special note , the box says Limited Edition , so this might not be around long, or the price will surely go up soon.

  5. Got the Hasegawa 1/48 AH-64E Apache Guardian for a decent price of 34 bucks and it was worth the money. If anyone had doubts about the kit , rest easy. It is a good kit , new rotor blades , sugar scoops , and appropriate lumps and bumps for an "E". Only wish it were in 1/35

  6. Calling all resin update and conversion kits makers out there ... is anyone thinking or creating a 1/48 scale CV-22 Osprey update set. The Italeri kit is getting long in the tooth and screams for a update set to make it a better MV-22B USMC or an awesome CV-22B USAF AFSOC aircraft. Inquiring minds would like to know. I posted this in the props section but since the CV-22 is hybrid in both props and rotor I figured it deserved mention here as well

  8. Hawkwrench and Luca ,

I have two MH-53J/M Pave Low packages in my stock , and the price was so good I could not turn down Hawkwrench's offer , however gentlemen, I am not opposed to Luca getting this good deal cause I do not need to be greedy. With that being said Hawkwrench , if you wish to sell it to Luca , I am cool with it, and Luca , this is a damn good deal , so do not let it pass. Keep me posted on the decision.

  9. I have a couple of the Italeri kits and I should go check the differences since I thought they were just reboxes with new decals. Thanks for the update.

I was so happy when I heard that Hasegawa was releasing an Osprey but then it came out in 1/72nd. I have heard it is a wonderful kit but I would have liked it in 1/48. However saying that I think if Hasegawa released it I don't think I would be able to afford it as it would probably be more than their Hornets.

Maybe one day we will see a new one in 1/48th scale. I live in hope.

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B OSPREY 'U.S. AIR FORCE' 02074 was released as Limited Edition and therefore getting harder to find. However if you find the Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B 'J.A.S.D.F' 02121 it is the same kit as 02074 with Japanese Air Self Defense Force decals. It too is a Limited Edition. They both have all the lumps and bumps of the current CV-22B. I highly recommend either one for the USAF version. I was able to find both kits on discount for less than 25.00 USD at my local hobby store before Christmas.

  10. Anyone know much about this kit, I haven't really been able to find a review for this kit.

It is the only kit 1/48 scale. I have four of them. The first release was Kit 825 that represents the pre-production test version of the MV-22. A newer version , kit 2622 was later released with a few changes to the original mold and additional sprue upgrades to represents the early production version of the MV-22 (USMC). Later another box was released as a special edition that included USAF decals for the AFSOC CV-22. The kit as a whole has a sparse interior begging for upgrades. The exterior does not represents either the current MV-22, nor CV-22. But it does provide a good baseline for scratch building. I am currently working on one as we speak. There are a couples of 1/48 V-22 builds in the gallery. I hope this helps.

  11. Hey Norbert ,

brother I am amazed at your attention to detail and your willingness to fill a void in the helicopter modeling world. But I see so many request and excited model builders that I am also surprised you are still able to focus and stay on track. I remember a phrase " if you build it , they will come " Keep up the good work.
