  1. For the love of GOD there has to be some way of getting a pair of these. I'm tempted to do up a 3D model and have them printed, but I'm REALLY hoping someone out there has a resource. OR the Hasegawa boxing they are willing part with.
  2. Thanks, gents. I knew I could count on you guys.
  3. I've read on-line that the original Kinetic F/A-18C boxing has some errors. And I've read that later boxings corrected those errors. Apparently there were issues with the tails and the canopy? I just ordered this boxing: Does anyone know if it includes the nose/canopy corrections and the tail corrections? Or am I gonna have to get a different version to get the corrected parts?
  4. I just ordered the Tamiya 1/48 F-14A (Late) that has the "dirty" wings with the flaps and slats down. I want to build it "in flight" and looking for the clean set of wings that come with the other boxings. I'm willing to buy outright, or trade the dirty wings for the clean ones. I'm in the US.
  5. This Hasegawa Weapons set has them: https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/has35011.htm
  6. I may wait until I hear your opinion, then. Although, one can never have enough Tomcats. 😄
  7. So, would it be complete heresy to model it gear up, wings back, and in-flight...considering all the detailing options, I feel like I would be shunned by the community. 🙂
  8. Has anyone got or built it up yet? I'm curious as to the accuracy. I've got the Finemolds 'Cat, but I'm wondering if the GWH version is accurate. Apparently the Finemolds front fuselage is too deep. And yes, I've got the Hasegawa, too...but the fit pains me. 🙂
  9. I was looking at those. Costs almost as much as the Hasegawa kit itself. 🙂 Luckily I think I can make the Fujimi parts work.
  10. Actually managed to find some Fujimi gear legs in my spares box! Nice build, by the way!
  11. Maybe I'll snag the gear from my Hasegawa Super Hornet. Should be the same. Edit: After a quick search, the main gear is NOT the same on the Super. Guess I'll be doing some fixing on the kit parts.
  12. Ok, I can kinda sorta see the issue. Nice work, by the way!
  13. Yeah, but which angle? 😄 Maybe I'll just go with an in-flight display. Because I WILL lose sleep. 😅
  14. I've seen other posts claiming that the Main Gear of the Academy Legacy Hornet is wonky. I haven't started it yet, but I can't tell what the issue is by looking at the sprue. Does anyone have a work-around (other than using another kit's parts)? What's the issue? Bad angle? Wrong shape? I'm looking at references, but it's hard to tell without actually gluing them on...and then it's too late. 🙂
  15. Hoping someone built the Tomcat and still has the pilots. I believe the A-6 had the same figures. The aftermarket stuff is okay, but these are exactly what I need.
  16. Not sure if it's okay to link to Shapeways in this Forum, so if not, I apologize and Mods feel free to delete. Here's something I designed for myself, but thought others might want to see. It's a conversion kit to turn the Heller/Airfix 1/72 Gazelle into the Blue Thunder helicopter. It will require advanced skills to finish. There's no interior or canopy glass. Some trimming of parts will be necessary. I haven't ordered it myself, so I can't post pictures of the finished product yet. But if anyone wants to take a stab at it, here it is: Blue Thunder K
  17. I've decided to try and reshape the RV canopy as much as I can. Considering how difficult clear styrene is to work with, this may prove to be a disaster. If it turns out any good, I'll post pics. If I haven't lost my mind by then.
  18. Well, for the Zvezda BIS, the nose should taper slightly inwards (not the shock cone, but the fuselage intake area). The Zvezda fuselage sides are almost parallel. Once you see it, you CAN'T unsee it. :) After actually holding the kit in my hand, I can see it. As far as the MiG-15, I've been thinking about getting the HobbyBoss simply for the price. I built up their MiG-3 (completely redid the interior) and it turned out to be a great kit. I think the "easy" HobbyBoss kits are a nice addition to the hobby. Forget the haters. ;)
  19. This is really just a rant about the lack of an accurate 1/72 MiG-21BIS. I've got both the Zvezda and the RV aircraft versions. I'm not sure which is going to be easier to correct. The Zvezda nose is wrong (not the shock cone, the fuselage). The RV fuselage AND Canopy is wrong. The RV had better surface detail, but the Zvezda looks like it'll be "easier" to correct shape-wise. Lots of sanding of the nose area. But maybe I can correct the canopy on the RV by clever painting tricks. ARRRGGHHHH!!!!! For the most produced jet combat aircraft in the world, there's a surprising l
  20. Thanks for the info. Those should be easy enough to remove. But now I've got a bigger dilemma. Should I do this project, or just go for the Su-33 instead? :) I've already got a built Su-27 (Hasegawa)...but I've never built the Sea Flanker. Decisions, decisions... Appreciate the help, gents.
  21. I can always use an Su-27S photo-etch set, I guess. No big deal there. The antennas I can probably scratch build out of styrene. I was mainly concerned about the nose shape. As long as I'm good there, this might be doable. Thanks for the info!
  22. How feasible would it be to backdate the Zvezda 1/72 Su-27SM to an Su-27S? I know the IRST needs to be centered, but what else? Is the nose shape different? It's hard for me to tell. I know that there's a Trumpeter offering, but I heard the Zvezda shape is more accurate. Ideas?
  23. I've decided to build a bunch of 1/72 stuff "in flight", but I'm lacking enough qualified pilots. Anyone have spare Fujimi 1/72 modern-ish pilots they are willing to part with? They came with the F-14 and I think the A-6 as well, and are very detailed (separate arms, helmets, etc). My stuff is 80's era, so the helmets are perfect. Happy building, everyone! -Steve
