Right... A little delayed but some progress... I've now painted the grey (and note this should be FS36231 Dark Gull Grey NOT FS36118 Gunship Grey - luckily I noticed BEFORE I started painting!!). Next step will be the black... I've also today ordered my decal sheets from Two Bobs... -

I have to say that I'm quite pleased with the result so far... Just need to get the tanks painted and do a little tidying up... Not as fast as your builds though! -

Managed to make some more progress tonight - the 3rd color in the camo is on (Gunship Grey). Just a little touching up and it'll be ready for a coat of gloss varnish and some decals -
It's been out for almost a month now - I picked mine up from the LHS about 3 weeks ago...

It's freehand. I mark out the camo pattern in pencil first, then spray over it. As for airbrush, I'm using an Iwata HP-CH, spraying at about 25psi with Xtracolor paint, thinned to about 2/3 paint, 1/3 thinner. I normally spray much lower (about 6-10psi) but have been trying this approach to get rid of spatter. -

Well - it was impressive to see that many on the go at once! I'm struggling to keep my 8 going! Only reason I've not painted the GG yet is that I am working on an F-4D at the moment (see F-4D in the F-4 Group Build section) - that uses the same grey so wanted to paint the two together... -

And they call ME mad!! :) -
A quick question from someone with absolutely NOT knowledge of Twin Mustangs (but several Monogram kits in storage!)... Any reason why you couldn't start with 2 F-51D's and convert them? I thought the outer wings and fuselages were the same???

Yes - my friend mig23 has at least double that number (2 bulk builds of 25+ F-16's and F-4's - but then he has a dedicated model room! I am struggling a little - I've now decided that whilst I may build in bulk, painting will be strictly one or two at a time! -

Err... would need to check my list to give you a definitive answer However, 1 is the F-16C with the blue nose and red tail. The other 6 are Nellis aggressors - from memory, 2 are in the brown scheme, 1 flogger, 2 flankers and I can't recall what the last one is! I'll post the list at some point! -
As well as my bulk build of F-4's for the IPMS UK F-4 SIG's upcoming display at Telford, I also have a batch of 8 F-16s on the go. First one to reach paint should be quite recognisable... it will be one of the newly painted 18th AS F-16C's in the two tone grey and black "Snow Flanker" scheme. Even better, the Two Bobs sheet will be available first week of May, which is exactly when this should be ready for decalling! Base color is FS16495 Light Grey. The Two Bobs sheet calls for either FS16622 or FS16628 - however my copy of FS595B shows these to be quite different colors. the '495 is qui

Right... first coat of paint is now on! I've used Xtracolor X139 which is FS16495 Light Grey - it's slightly lighter than the recommended FS16493 but I'm not aware of the latter color being available in the Xtracolor range (and NO I'm NOT repainting it if I get proven to be wrong!!) -
