  1. "VOOM"?!? Mate, this bird wouldn't "voom" if you put four million volts through it! 'E's bleedin' demised!

"i'm not dead yet, i actually feel much better. I think i'll go for a walk"

if i'm not mistaken, the awesome power coming from those massive jet engines dictate that the tweet didn't actually need wings to fly. They were mearly put there to make the tweet look just like any ol' other airplane. further attempts to hide the true nature of it as the most powerful jet ever.

  2. ahhh, but beware....i think it's just using a tatical surprise move. it'll spring into action when the time comes and that RV doesn't stand a chance. :D

edit. I'm in such fear myself, i couldn't even spell TACTICAL.....that's the power of the tweet.

  3. has anyone here ordered the CAM decals Blue Angel sheet #p48-011? I just recieved two copies of that sheet and noticed that on the B.A. shield, the text at the bottom "Blue Angels" is missing. has anyone else noticed this? is it an error or did i miss the memo about them removing the text?

anyone have any insight? otherwise, they look like great decals.

    thanks,

    Bill

  4. as far as rare, i don't know how rare, but a 1/16th scale nichimo 68-69 shelby gt-500 that i have been putting off building for some time. i have a cobra 427 engine from the amt cobra kit to put in it since the kit engine is basically a big square block o'plastic. also gonna scratch the running gear.

but the one that i want to do up right is the academy 32nd f-18d. i have built the c model O.O.B., but with the "D" i have the B.B. cockpit, eduard placard set and external details, and i'm thinking about getting some seamless intakes. i want to really go out on that one. there's a thread on a build from the past here that i really would love to get the pics from. they are gone because of he age of the build i guess.

  5. cool, thanks guys. I was a little concerned because the mold seems to be slightly "bleeding" a thin oily film every few weeks or so. It didn't appear to be affecting the strength of it, but i didn't know if it was eventually just gonna turn to jelly. I will start storing in a ziplock thou....thanks again

  6. How long can an RTV mold last? I've heard modelers talk about how many castings they got out of a mold, but not how long it last if stored. Is there a way to extend the life of a mold?

I have a mold of a 1/144 scale tow tractor, I only poured about 5 copies from it, but I would like to pour some more sometime in the future, is there a best way to store the mold? Any insight on this?

    Thank in advance,

    Bill

  7. check out www.stushepherdart.com/AviationArt. His stuff is seen on many walkaround books and looks pretty good. otherwise, just do a google search and there are several others out there.

not to try steal this thread, but just curious. does anyone know if there are copywrite laws protecting the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds images. In other words, do artist that paint them have to get a licensing arrangement or since they are owned by the citizens, can anyone sell art with them in it? Always wondered about that.

    thanks,

    Bill

  8. Another free source for guitar strings is your local bar where bands play. I can almost garauntee you that if you look around the area where the band sets up, you will find guitar string bits lying around, unless of course you go to a bar that is actually cleaned regularly....what are the odds of that?

besides, while you're there.....might as well throw back one. ;)

everytime we play a gig, i look around the stage and find a whole load of strings. the eyelets on the ends of strings also make good detail bits, like pulleys and what not.

    just a suggestion.

  9. I also posted this in Jet Modeling, maybe someone here would know.

I noticed on the Blue Angels instrument cowling, on the right side, there are these large retangular objects that look like 5 or so large indicator lights. does anyone know what that are, and if they are specific to the Blue Angels? Anyone one have a good picture of it as the only place i could see them was on the military channels profile of the Blues?

Also, is the stop watch and whatever those things are also located in the backseat of the two-seat no.7?

anyone having insight in to this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  10. Okay, I know these are popping up quite often, but when you gotta know.....you gotta know.

While watching the blue angel special on Military channel, i noticed a few other items mounted on their instrument cowling. I know they have the stop watch mounted center, and the smoke switches, but what are the rectangular objects that look like large indicator lights on the right side? I never noticed them before. Are these Blue Angel specific items? Also, is all that mounted on the two-seat version? and if so, both front and back seats have them or just front? I know, too many questions. Any help is appreciated

  11. now that's just not right!!! could give someone a heart attack like that!! if someone weren't paying attention, they'd swear there was a hasa 32nd superbug coming out.

    oh well

  12. Thanks Keith! I did go ahead and order two sets, but if i don't need to use them both on one kit, then i guess i HAVE to do another blue jet! darn the luck huh. I have always thought of doing an f-18 just off the deck with wheels being retracted. I'm a little scared of how to do the extended main gear, but i can practice on one of the revell kits. I think that would make a great in-flight B.A. display. thanks again

  13. has anyone used CAM decals blue angel set? do i need to order two sets and double them up as some have done with the superscale decals? I don't want the dreaded blue with green stripes. any input would be appreciated. also any other tips on doing a convincing blue angel would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing the 48th scale two seater with open avionics. i haven't decided on wing folds. do they fold their wings very often? don't see much of a need for them to, but it would add visual interest. anyway, all advice welcome.

  14. I know what Ben means! I tell you what Harold, my wife isn't going to like you very much! The one saving grace i have for this particular model is that it's for my Dad. So I can pull out the "but dear, its a gift. What are memories like that worth?" flash some sad eyes :salute: and all should be good. now, get to work harold!!!!

  15. I'd be very interested in a cockpit for an f-94b. I have the hobbycraft kit just waiting to do for my dad in his 319th sq. markings. I have had very little luck finding pictures of the cockpit to do any detailing. most of the stuff i've seen on-line has been with the canopy closed, and usually from the ground. If i run across anything useful, i'll send you a link. how much are you asking for the wheel wells and such?

  16. I built one quite a while back. it was my first aftermarket pit as well, so take this for what it's worth. The thing i did wrong, and believe it's how the instructions tell you to do it, is i glued the side panels into the fuse and then tried to fit the tubs in to match up. THEY DON'T unless you are very very careful dry fitting. I recommend glueing the side to the tub, then fitting the whole assembly in. Maybe someone here has better advice, I'm by no means a resin cockpit expert. Other than that trouble, the cockpit was a pleasure to work with and looked great. In my sample, the pedals were a bit on the thin side, and i broke one slightly at the corner. easy fix.

    good luck.

  17. Might tone down your watermark a little. The markings are confusing and difficult to pick out under all that mess.

i would imagine he has the watermark that dark for security reasons. With some of the newer graphics programs, it is becoming increasingly easy for someone to just swipe decal designs, and there is a lot of work put into them to just have them riped off and sold on e-bay under someone elses name. I for one don't mind having to look past a dark watermark, it is obvious, even with it there, that these are first rate looking markings with ALOT of great extras that others should have thought to include on their sheets. Not to dis other makers here, but bravo for your decals fightertown.

  18. I was going to build the 32nd scale Trumpeter Tuna, but after seeing that I'd have to buy a.m. Gills, Fin corrections, a whole new set of eyes, a snout correction set, do some major surgery on the tail section And fill and rescribe all the panel lines! I've decided against it. I'll just get the Academy Halibut, with lemon sauce. Should I do atlantic or pacific theatres?

  19. I will be seeing the team, I hope in the morning. Any questions you want me to see if I can sneak in....let me know.

    Reporting from Pensacola for work

Yeah! if you could get them to pop open the avionics bays and get some good photos of that, that would be GREAT!!!!!

on a serious note, do tell them that everyone here (I believe everyone) sends our condolences for their loss.

oh, you could also check and see if the second no. 7 still has the little blue "7" in the yellow fin stripe. Don't know why they use two 7's as opposed to an "8", but it's cool.

  20. I have to agree that IMHO it is better to have something there to see. While it's true the camera increases the amount of prop blur you can see, even in person, a prop is visible. I think the key is being subtle. I have never tried to reproduce spinning props, but of the models i have seen, those with some attempt at showing a prop have more action. Not being critical of those who leave it off, but some would say that is like covering bad intakes as opposed to fixing them. Also, in essence, a model is like a 3-dimensional photograph of a subject, it too is stopped in time. So i think to reproduce the "photo" effect is more than acceptable.

  21. I'm still planning on doing the two-seat no 7 b model. I would love to be able to do it in Kevin Davis's markings when he flew no. 7. Anyone know if their markings changed any since last season other than the canopy seal names? I personally prefer to use the hasagawa kits, but it's a matter of opinion and budget.
