  1. Thanks for the help guys, I'll have another look around and see if I can find it
  2. Are there any Irish modellers who know where I can find some Future (or its UK/Irish equivalent, whatever that is) in Dublin? Alternatively, what kind of places in the UK would sell it? I'm looking to have a go at doing some canopies with Future, but I can't find it anywhere.
  3. My alternative (and probably to be slated as very amateurish) approach is simply to leave the canopy off until the model is completed, hand-paint it and add it as the final detail. Admittedly, there is a different finish between the canopy and the model, although its not usually that noticeable. I'm very cowardly and I'm very new to airbrushing, so I want to get the hang of painting and masking before I try it on a canopy.
  4. I've seen a few people post on here with 'requests' like this, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm building an Airfix 1/48 EA-6B Prowler and I'm looking for a pair of HARMs to go onto it. Are there any modellers out there with a spare pair that they'd be willing to part with? I've got a few odds and sods lying around to trade, including a complete canopy set (all on the sprue) and decal sheet for the Revell Phantom FGR.2, a few different weapons, decals etc. I'm living in Ireland if it makes any difference postage-wise.
  5. I've only just got my airbrush, so I use that for larger areas and brush paint the rest. Examples: Cockpit, seats, undercarriage, most ordnance, intakes and exhausts are all brush painted (to get the extra detail). Wings and fuselages and some ordnance (e.g. drop tanks) are all airbrushed. This will probably change as I get more confident with the airbrush, but I'm happy with it this way at the moment.
  6. Its Gloss # 22 that I'm using and its over a coat of grey cellulose primer (a tip I picked up from railway modelling). I'll give your suggestion a try and see what happens. Its a bit of a concern as I'm building an F-16I Sufa at the moment, and I don't want to have a similar problem with the sand colouring...
  7. I've been trying to airbrush Humbrol's white onto the underside of a 1/48 Revell Phantom FGR.2 (I'm planning to do it as a Royal Navy FG.1), but when I tried to spray it I got an extremely thin, watery covering that didn't actually do any covering, complete with a series of random black dots. The paint is thinned with Humrols own enamel thinners at a ratio of roughly 4:1 (to the consistency of milk). Every other colour I spray is thinned to this consistency with no problems. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a possible solution to it? I'm thinking about trying a slightly thic
