James A Posted November 17, 2006 Share Posted November 17, 2006 Reading through the New Tamiya 1/72 Birdcage F4U-1 description on HLJ, the author mentions F4U-1's in the US during the war that were painted gloss sea blue and had the longer tailwheel struts. Hawk10 Posted November 20, 2006 Share Posted November 20, 2006 I've seen various pics of the Birdcage in training units, but all of them were in the tri-color scheme and I didn't really pay attention to the tail wheel assembly. But having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if somebody came up with some pics of the gloss blue paint schemes or for that matter the long tail wheel assembly installed in a tri-color Corsair (believe the assembly could be changed without any major modifications to the airframe).
