merlin101
Currently building one from this unit & wondering what training rounds they carry? Any help, especially pics would be great! Dave
longmc
Dave, Which one are you doing? You've got a couple options here. We always fly with at least one set of CATAM AIM-9 and an AMA pod. You can do "around the house" configuration which mainly consists of a centerline tank, a on the tips. Going to the range, there could be any combination of tanks, 2 wings or 1 center (never all 3), a LANTIRN pod, and BDU-33s on the aero TERs. Or when we take them to DM for Snowbirding we carry more exotic things. It would be the same load as the range plus either 6 mk-82 AIRs on the aero TER, or a 1 mk-82 AIR and a GBU-12 (all blue rounds). We used to use the AGM-65 alot, but once we got target pods, we really stopped using them, plus we switched missions to training. Also, you can check out Jakes site for more pics. merlin101
Thats the exact a/c i'm making! At the moment i'm planning three tanks, training AMRAAM on tips & a single training GBU-12 under wing along with a LANTIRN pod. Dave
longmc
Dave, make sure to fill in the extra 2 chaff/flare as 262 is an FY86 bird. We don't really ever use the Amraam rounds, but they do look cool.

merlin101
you get my 'pm' longmc?
longmc
Here's the 2 wing tank configuration: You can add the LANTIRN pod as you like. With 2 wing tanks the center will be empty. the inner LAU-128/16S210 rails are optional as well. We carry them as much as we don't, but are usually empty. If you do it as Spanks bird, leave off the RAM paneling and use the scoop under the gun. If you do Jackos then don't use the scoop and add all the panels on the nose like this: sorry, I didn't ask if you wanted my advice first.
