ixgr1
Think I'd better whip this puppy out of the stash - QUOTE (ixgr1 @ Feb 24 2009, 02:00 AM) Just floating an idear....... The RAAF (EADS ?) proposed a F-111G 'wild weasel' design in 2003 http://www.ausairpower.net/DT-EADS-MAY03.pdf would this be a Whif ? - as the -111 fleet is now under retirement ? -be happy -steve -"That would absolutely be a whiff. That variant of the F-111 was never a reality, only a proposal. I would love to see a HARM-armed Aardvark." Edited June 4, 2009 by ixgr1
ixgr1
- ok done a bit of work...... The EADS proposal for this upgrade was cantered on the F-111C AUP cockpit, which bacialy included two MFD's and not a lot else. However since this is a WIFF I have decided to go with the proposed F-111D 'Glass Cockpit'. There was also a proposed engine change for the Aussie F-111. The F110-GE-132 or F100-PW-232 power plants were concidered for a 'Supercruse' capability.
Samurai_Chris
Pit looks good.. Not sure, but do the drivers still use shaggy red seat covers these days guys? Chris
ixgr1
-- not shure about the shagg-pile seat covers. Any post - 1997 (AUP ?) cockpits I have seen haven't shown much more than a browny/fawn seat, or maybe a black shaggy cover. -update, with one week to go: - Airframe assembled and working on sanding back. Weapons constructed inc- scratch built AGM-142 ! I've even had time for a rudimentry bombay - dont know what to put in it though ! - a Elta 8222 ECM pod ? Also toying with a F110-GE-132 power plant ? --Photos to follow Edited May 25, 2009 by ixgr1
Andrew Doppel
Looking good Steve. Chris, most RAAF F111s have faded black lambswool seat covers and a very faded red headrest. Look forward to seeing it completed. Regards Andrew
ixgr1
and the 11th hour update...contains....... the front fuselarge, pilots are now more appropriately coloured and streamlined blade, and GPS antenas added. the strart of my AGM-142 Raptors, Elta 8222 ECM, and F110-GE-132 exhausts and the 'rudamentry' bombay - well it's a start ? much more progress than this done now. I think this Pig is developing into a AdvancedCapablitiesUpgrade F-111G rather than just a HARM shooter

ixgr1
- ok just a small update. - and quite lamely intoducing this thread to 'Jets' I have started incorperating the EADS ECR suite. By way of the optical IR detectors; 2 small blisters forwrd of the main gear, and a FLIR blister. With 8 tiny emitter locators in the LERX shoulders, a bit like reverce parking sensors ? Thinking on working on an F/A 18E 'Pizza box" Iff blister ???????? - any thoughts ????? -photos to follow. (yes I know the paint is very splattered, I think I need a new tip for the air brush) Edited June 4, 2009 by ixgr1
ixgr1
small update to show the result of this project. It didn't turn out to be my finest hour ! I'ts also taken me a few months to get rid of all the "pelican ****" following an unsucessfull dullcoat - well we live and learn ? See the EADS ECR suite, under the nose ? -head shot showing off the sleak and deadly lines of the "G"
