Ishthe47guy
Here are some APU pics I had handy: I'll look through my photo files. I know I've got decent shots of that area. Ishthe47guy
This is the aft transmission: I really need to consolidate my photo files. I know I have better shots, I just can't find them in the jumble of folders I've created over the years. Medhawk, you guys having c-box issues? I count 3, possibly 4 c-boxes in the photo you posted. medhawk020
What part the Ramp area or where the AFT motor Shaft is
medhawk020
here are some pics of the ramp area
Ishthe47guy
Looks like a typical phase when I was contracting in the desert. Maintenance panels off, along with the electric hyd pump... Looks like the ramp transition was replaced, and skin panels removed from the aft gear fairing. Don't let the safety officer see that little bit of trailer tongue in the walkway... lol Never heard the aft vertical shaft called a motor shaft, but, I've heard crazier. Ishthe47guy
I use to be a Blackhawk crew cheif. Went to USAAS mar of last year to learn to walk on Chinooks. Ah, the dreaded or much sought after Tango to Uniform transition. USAAS... is that what the schoolhouse at Ft. Eustis is called now? When I went through, it was USAALS, & our MOS were 67 & 68 series. If I remember correctly when I went through, TI's no longer had their own MOS identifier (66 series). I don't have a lot of -60 experience. Most of my experience is concentrated into a weeks time frame, fighting wildfires in the Texas panhandle. Edited April 27, 2011 by Ishthe47guy
evnewsphoto
Medhawk020; Love all these great pics of the Chinooks I wish I had pics like this of the CH-46! I have the -47 in my stash and someday I'll use these pics, do you have any of the spine all opened up and the foreward rotor mast transmission (like I have done on my -46)? Also do you have similar Blackhawk pics? I am doing a HH-60H soon and could always use more pics of open panels and the drivetrain. If not no biggie, I have a good budy at work who used to be a crew chief on the SH-60 and HH-60H with HS-6 Indians so I can pick his brain, he just doesn't have any photos. Thanks for sharing the photos, someday they will be a big help, Everett
