riceballtrp
Working on USS Tennessee, c. 1941 and it looks as though Tamiya's hull red is too dark and flat red is too red. I've researched the hull colors, but cannot come up with a good color reference other than "measures" or mixtures. A color chip would be nice. Any person out there with a link or book reference on this subject? TIA
veliko_pile
Hi, I used this one on all of my US ships: https://www.whiteensignmodels.com/p/Norfolk+65A+Antifouling+Red+US+14/7882/ Out of the jar is the most exact. Here's the result as an example: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=85174 Chip: http://www.art-paints.com/Paints/Airbrush/Badger/ModelFlex-Marine/Anti-Fouling/Anti-Fouling.gif Maybe a little bit brighter... Grey Ghost 531
Plain old flat red with a touch of black works fine. You can find examples of a whole raft of shades if you research a little. The WWII US shade looks pretty red to me so just a tiny touch of black in flat red should do the trick.
