Mig pigments wash

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've see some Builds online where people use mig washes and get real nice results.

But I can't find any "aircraft specific washes"

Can anyone that's use them tell

Me which ones to get to try them out?

I've used the promodeller stuff and oil washes but wants tinted something different.

Thanks in advance!

Both Testors and Humbrol have some relatively new washes on the market, but there are no specific "aircraft washes" available that I know of. Some simulate oil and grease, if that's what you're looking for.

Just about any enamel or water-based paint can be used as a wash; it just depends on the effects you are trying to achieve. Tamiya's "Smoke" is a transparent gray that makes a nice wash to accent engraved panel lines when diluted and a flow-aid added.

I use AK washes. (similar to MIG). They don't produce aircraft specific washes, but you can get away with any of those produced. It all depends of the colour of the aircraft you are building.

I'd go with these...

AK 093 Interior Wash - great for light green and interior green

AK 070 Wash For Panzer Grey - for german planes (rlm 74, 75, 76)

AK 045 Dark Wash For Green Vehicles - For OD camo

AK 075 Wash for NATO Tanks - black brown wash...
