Tom
441 Squadron had two CF-188s painted for the 50th anniversary of D-Day, 188703 and 188781. Images of the latter aircraft seem much easier to find. Would anyone know why there were two aircraft? Were they done at different times during 1994 or concurrently?
Specter1075
I found pictures of both. It's odd that both schemes are identical. Is it possible they just had two demo teams that year? That would be most likely. Interestingly, the Leading Edge decals set includes numbers for both aircraft. EDIT: I found this old forum post about the aircraft. No references, but a poster says that 410 did up two aircraft for the anniversary. https://fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23403 User SR01 "Reference the CF188 with the invasion stripes. 441 Squadron had 2 aircraft painted up in 1993 for the 50th aniversary of D-Day, 188703 and 188781 shown in your pic's . Cheers Brian" For anyone curious: Edited March 29 by Specter1075
