Main laning gear.

Primed the metal gear with Tamiya Surface Primer, then airbrushed Tamiya XF-2 flat white several times. I think I sprayed it about up to 3-4 layers.

After that, airbrush the Humbrol Satin Coat

(actually I was intended to spray with MM Dull Coat, but I decided to choose the Satin Coat because the bottle still full while the dull coat is just about 1/2 left :stupid: )

Enamel wash with heavily thinned Testors Flat Black. I think the ratio of paint & thinner was about 1:5.

For the battery box, maybe you all will say too bright, you should used darker blue. I painted the battery with Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue because that's the only blue I have

No decals yet.

Now it's the radar.

For the white parts, I used Tamiya XF-2 flat white then seal it with Humbrol Satin Coat. Enamel washed with flat black.

The hinges of the radar I used Tamiya XF-54 Dark Sea Gray. Then washed with flat black.

Decals are on.

Last pic for today...

The intake, painted with XF-2 flat white and sealed with MM Semi gloss coat. The black stripes are airbrushed with Tamiya X-18 Semi Gloss black + a lil' X-22 flat base.

I had a bad time sanding on the intake. Lotsa putty and sanding, full of dust

Masking was also very difficult. As you can see here, the black paint is not even. Need to fix this later.

Hope you all like it. Comments, critiques and suggestions are mostly welcome

Cheers...

Overall body of engine I airbrushed with acrylic Tamiya XF-16 Flat Alluminium, heavily dry brushed with Testors enamel Flat Black.

The exhaust cone and fan borders I painted with MM Metalizer Exhaust, then drybrused with Aero Master Neutral Gray.

Some details like those little yellow things, I painted with various enamel from Tamiya, Humbrol & Testors.

Here's the exhaust details.

I used Tamiya XF-2 Flat White as the white base, then airbrushed with thinned MM Metalizer Exhaust to create a shading effect.

Finally sealed with MM Flat coat, then enamel wash with a mix of flat black and a little dark brown.

Final pics of the engine.

Apparently I lost 2 of those yellow things. Too lazy to search for it

Maybe I'll make the replacement with styrene sheet later.

Comments, critiques & suggestions are welcome

After reading a thread about CCIP upgrade Here, I decided to upgrade my Viper also.

I swap the nose part with Bird Slicer. However, I had a little disaster when removing the non bird slicer part. I accidentically broke the panel lines around it.

Here's the pic of attached Bird Slicer, but the panel lines were not fixed yet.

Okay last picture for today

The panel lines around the bird slicer are fixed (but not shown here).

Finally painted her with Aero Master Neutral Gray.

Gunship Gray are next to be applied.

Painted the nose cone with a mix of Tamiya XF-24 Dark Grey + Gunze H301 FS36081.

More progress are koming.

Comments, critiques & suggestions are welcome

Cheers

Cool, Thanks!

One more thing, can you clarify if the kit is supplied with CG parts? (i.e. Intake, Jet Cans, etc...?) Thanks alot!

No. This kit only supplied with CJ parts. Only big mouth intake & GE engine. No CG parts like stiffeners plates, LITENING & LANTIRN, and WAR HUD.

If you want to get the CG parts, I suggest you get the Academy 1/32 F-16CG/CJ one. Out of the box, it can be build as block 40/42 CG or block 50/52/ROKAF Falcon.

Academy got the LITENING, LANTIRN & WAR hud, but no stiffener plates. The kit itself actually suffer a lot of innacuracies, like the intake shape, the windshield, etc.

For more explanations, I suggest you can visit habu2's site at http://www.habu2.net/vipers/index.html

thanks! I visited the site but apparently he doesnt have any reviews. I was hoping that the Tamiya kit had some CG parts so I could build the CG Falcons with Tamiya's detailed kit but I guess that wont happen... I do hope that Academy's kit isnt all that bad to work with and the weapons are swappable.

You can build a block 40 from the Tamiya kit provided you add the WAR HUD. The skin reinforcements are standard for a modern jet, but very early in the block 40 days, a lot of jets left the factory without them.

A little update of my Tamiya Falcon...

Finished the overall airframe painting yesterday. The redstrip on the tail I painted with Humbrol Matt Scarlet.

Airframe were sealed with a mix of Future & Tamiya Flat Base to give a semi gloss effect (I don't really like overall gloss for decalling).

Radome color is tentative. I don't really satisfied with the grey color. I'll strip the color & repaint with another grey that suitable.
