DougE
I'm currently working on some 1/56 scale German Troops for WWII and the officer has an overcoat and officers cap. I would like to make it look like he's wearing black leather...any suggestions on painting him to look like it? Obvious color I'm sure is black. Thanks, Doug
niart17
Actually very few things in my opinion should be ever painted "black". Most things that appear black are actually various degrees of dark grey with tones mixed in depending on the material. For leather at that scale I would go with as dark a gray (grey) as you can find and use black only for the wrinkles. Highlight the tops of creases with a lighter grey with maybe a hint of blue or possibly brown, again depending on what type of leather you're talking about. Best thing I think is to find pics of an item like you want and use that as a guide to pick out colors. good luck and post pics when you get it going. Bill
