dnl42
I've got Attack Squadron's 1/48 RQ-7B ready for the paint shop. As you can see by the cutting mat, it's quite diminutive--needed to haul out the #10 Optivisor lens! But, it's got very nice detail... They give you resin landing gear as well as PE struts with resin wheels. I'm leaning to PE for the main gear and resin for the nose.
dnl42
Got 'er done! I went with the resin landing gear; even at 1/48 scale, the thing only weighs a couple of grams...
STEN8
What a great build! I have just discovered Attack Squadron Models website, and really am interested in several of their 1/72 birds. The new Fire Scout and the F8F Bearcat look simply amazing! Nice to see the kits build up even better then they look on the site! Fantastic job! If you don't mind, where did you purchase the kit and how did you separate the parts from the sprue? I have never built a resin kit before, just aftermarket items, and would hate to mar such a beautiful casting. Thanks again for sharing your great work. Best Regards, Harry Lutz, FL
dnl42
Thanks! They've also got a 1/72 version of this little beastie! I cut the pieces with a JLC saw and sharp #11 blade. I then used files to remove the last vestiges of the pour gates and trim up the parts. Take your time in all the prep work, be especially careful where you cut so you don't manage to cut off, say, the sensor on the nose. Don't forget resin dust is nasty stuff and must not be inhaled. As always, wash all bits in soap and water first, and then prime everything before you paint. I bought this and the MQ-8B direct from Arma Hobby. My local LHS also had this kit, but they said that was more of a fluke, as they focus on plastic. I also have their PZL-1; I got that from Pacific Coast Models. Quite happy with Attack Squadron's offerings, especially since they now also do 1/48.
