  1. Fin correction? I've built three Italeri 1:48 Tornados (ECR, Marinefleiger, ADV) and when I got my first, the ECR, I specifically compared the fin to a photogrpah of a real one, and they look to be exactly the same! Is it simply my lack of AMS, or did I miss something?
  2. Cool altered cat (no pun intended)! Really like the canted tailpanes and the rear radar/spine thing you made Can't wait to see paint or how the filled in underbelly works out (1st pic) Macht immer der guten Arbite!
  3. Nice build so far. I Built a Revell AG Tigermeet version of this kit, though I wish i had as much attention to the cockpit as you have. The fit in this kit is very good all around. Just odd for them to include up to nine detailed hardpoints/pylons and not provide any ordinance. Maybe Revell's been looking too closely at Hasegawa...
  4. Cool trio setup! Interesting Raptor setup, I do belive that's the first time I've seen a Raptor with drop tanks. Also cool to see a loaded SEAD Weasle and AMRAAMs am ein Angrifsadler. A comment, it looks like that's an uncorrected Raptor, Italeri mis-engineered the fuselage forwards of the intake. There is a good article on this on cybermodeler: http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/builds/i...d_it_0850.shtml Again really good job on everything, and a really cool paint for the F-22
  5. Neat Viper, really cool paint job! If that's your first contribution, can't wait to see what's to come!
  6. Really cool Mirage, great job on the paint! The fuel-tank/MER is a really neat idea, haven't seen that before unless one may count the F-15E Again, nice jo, especially on the camo and I am so glad to see someone pose a jet in a dynamic flight pose!
  7. DA-DA-DA--DAA! I have begun painting now! I finally got around to getting the final color and more paint thinner (ACE Hardware brand, 1L: $4.99) (Testors brand paint solvent, 4 oz: same price) So, der Farber ich benutzen sind Model Master (Macht in der USA ) : Dunkelblau Weisse
  8. Sorry for my absence, depression, a temporary lack of supplies, ect, all coincided to halt my progress. But alas, I have returned, with photos, updates, and more! I used the missle halves for the AGM-68 nucular missiles that came with my 1:48 bone for parts, to very good results. The rocket boosters are done, the seams are almost all filled and sanded, anf the thrust vectoring mechanism is finished! Here is a closeup of the rocket boosters and thier pylons. Nice, huh? Now all I need for them are FOD covers like what are on the Shuttle's thrusters: And the thrust vector design. I strayed fr
  9. Sorry about that, I forgot that the "C" version is just a rebox of the old with new decals. You still get a pair of 30mm gun pods for the spares box (mine has both pods in place of the fuel tanks). What're the markings?
  10. Nice Job on the paint and assembly, better than my shot at it. Gonna use the Fighting Razorbacks scheme? This is in my opinon one of the best F-16 offerings. Any fighter kit with recessed panel lines and 6 AGM-65s, 2 mk-83s, 4 sidewinders aaannnd, two GPU-5/As is a good kit. I personally botched the decals when I built one, but they're veerry good, and, (I love this part!) it has decals/stencils for the weapons! It comes with LIVE ordinance markings for Everything! Such a good kit, it escapes me why it can be had for $20 on eBay and LuckyModel (both including shipping)
  11. [Wayne Brady-ish tone] "Daaaannnnnnmmmmm!" Yeah, I saw it before but forgot abut it, I've practically memorized all the unique [read: non-gray]F-16s in the gallery. I'm thinking maybe a little black in there to tone down the white areas a bit, but yeah, that's almost perfectm thanks!
  12. Today's Final Update! The winglets are now canted down at about 45 degrees: Here's a view from the front: The rocket boosters have the vernier holes drilled, just need to hack the rears off and engineer a pair of nozzles. Speaking of which, here they are, temporarily superglued to the winglet-side of the joint: Am thinking about a third pod mounted on a pylon over and between the two main engines. I want to give it a 'maximum load' look like what the Valkiries from Macross sometimes looked like, just with a more sparing underwing supply. As for paint, the splinter camo is definite
  13. Here are some photos of current work. Sorry, it looks not much different from the last photo of the first group I posted, but paint is coming soon...I hope. Canards are gone for good, sorry about poor photo quality: As soon as the burner cans get painted, the lower actuator housings are going on too: I know that it doesn't look quite like the MiG-35: But for my level it was simply a bit too much to make. The central housing is still a big ? since I'm not quite sure on shape. Again, it's not much progress, but she's getting there. Will try and have rocket boosters made and mocked-u
  14. Alright, an update: The forward swept canards at the nose looked just too odd for me, so I'm building up shoulders on the LERX's. Re-using the original canards though, plus the ruddervators are glued and good. The rocket boosters will be made to look as if they have vernier thrusters on them, as will the area just aft the radome so the aircraft may manuver in space (hey, a thermonuke engine doesn't require atmosphere, and the cockpit is a self-contained ejectable capsule). The boosters will be made from Dassault drop tanks with small holes drilled in the nose cones for thrusters, and the tail
  15. Alright, fianlly, pix! The milliput around a really bad joint under the cockpit is dried, so both canards are glued and drying. Unfortunately, the putty on the ruddervator mounts is not dry. . Most likely, these are all I'll have before most of you need to retire to your beds/spouses/workbenches/ect: This is the current, glued state of her: The ruddervators are taped in position here: And an above view: I know that the look of the thing is wierd, but it'll grow on you as the project progresses. The LEREX's are proportionally longer than on the Sukhoi, so thse canards looked best. Any
  16. Wings now glued to fuselage. Vertical stabilizers removed, shaping bases for ruddervators. Having difficulty finding the proper balance in shape for the canards though. They will be swept forward though. Thinking about shape for the bakfire micro-missile launcher and the cowling over the launch tubes in the right wingroot. Need opinions here: The exhaust nozzles are supposed to have thrust vectoring. Should I copy the MiG-35, which has the normal-looking nozzles, but with cowlings for the actuators: Or maybe something like what the Raptor or F-15s/MTD has?
  17. You mean like a 'T' tail? With a T-tail the hoizontal stabs cannot assist in rolling the aircraft side to side. BTW, wings almost finished, most the seams in the fuselage filled and ready for sanding. Should have the wings, canards and tail config glued by tonight!
  18. Thanks so much for all the feedback! The canards at the nose seem like a good idea, sort of like an Eurofighter-ish look, and as for the YF-23 Tails, they're a good idea, but I'm already planning that for an F-16 project, the "Israel aircraft Industries F-161A", and don't want it to look too common, especially with a YF-23 tailed F-15E in the back of my mind. And answering illithid00, Balance. I traced the wings and the jet's profile for a reason. I drew a line going from the midpoint of the wingroot to the midpoint of the wingtip, and drew a 'tangent' line. I figured that as the "line of l
  19. Awhile back I managed to snag a 1:48 Hasegawa F-16DJ off Ebay. After throwing a tantrum at the kit coming with TRAINING markings, I got over it and built it, painting the stripes on the missile bodies by hand, since $25 for decal paper was just abit too much. Anyway, here's the camo scheme that I lost my airbrush virginity on: Now, before people howl at me for using incorrect decals and mixing the stuff that came with it, it was half-accidental, half-intentional. I don't have AMS, so it didn't really matter, i just liked how the camo turned out. Comments appreciated, check out my MiG-35.
  20. An Update, after about two hours total of sanding: Tadaaaa! From the Front Left Three-Quarters. Now, the wings are not quite done, I think a wash under the sinkand a quick pass with the CA, followed by one more round of sanding, and the wings will be ready for permanent mounting. Now, at this point I need input. With the W-shaped wing, now the twin vertical stabilizers look iffy. Should I do an X-tail like this: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s...ss/Su-37001.jpg (A previous, stalled project for a JASDF VTOL Super-27UB) Or keep the normal tails. Also, what about Canard Sh
  21. I have heard of Yukikaze, and seen clips. Pretty cool movie and concept, but the overall feel I got from the clips was too close the anime "voices of a distant star", which left me feeling pretty wierd. I build fast because I do not have AMS. I proudly built an Italeri 1:48 Brakeet with the 'small mouth' intake! I mixed the marking on a Hasegawa 1:48 F-16DJ over a wierd camo scheme! Anyway, I thought I would demonstrate my "differentiable dehideral" concept for varying in-flight stability. As you can see, level wngs are for takeoff-landing/loading. The stable mode raises the cent
  22. Here's an update. Work is going slowly because i have to wait for the millipt to dry. At least I don't have to put it OUTSIDE the window to avoid inhaling the toulene fumes! Her's the left wing with milliput. More sanding, a lot more sanding... Here are the filled in aux intakes. Like what the Mig-29M has. Another view of the intakes. Will require another layer of milliput to smooth out. Guess what I forgot to put in before gluing the nacells together? ;) You can see progrss on the right wing in the foreground.
  23. Becasue I rely on my folks for cash right now, and most of my paints are dried out and useless, I'm thinking about paint schemes so i know exactly what colors to buy. I suggested a JASDF marine dark blue/blue scheme to my dad, which he really likes, but i could also do some kind of russian camo. Then again, the JASDF scheme, with the wierd white marks on the Mitsubishi F-2 loading screen for Over-G fighters (Xbox360, great sim) is cool too. anyone know where I can get 1:48 scale Major Motoko Kusanagi figures?(and Batou)
  24. Thanks, and I'm not very apt with computers, what are IMG tags?
  25. Okay, here are the first ten photos! http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s.../MiG-355001.jpg I can't think of better box art outside of Italeri's watercolor 'framable' boxes http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s.../MiG-355002.jpg Such nice packaging. Such a shame to have to ruin it. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s.../MiG-355003.jpg I drew a top profile and traced the wing to get an idea of how to mold the shape. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s.../MiG-355004.jpg Here was what i ended up with. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/s.../MiG-355005.jpg
