Hi guys, I'm currently building up a Harrier GR.9 (Hasegawa, 1/48), and I've got the Eduard cockpit set. This is the first time I've used an aftermarket cockpit (successfully that is - a rather nasty incident with an F-15E was a bad start). The kit includes a small photoetch MDC to be attached to the inside of the canopy. I'm not keen on just using the MDC decal from the cockpit (as it's black rather than white/gray), but I'm somewhat worried as to how to attach the etch to the canopy without leaving glue residue everywhere. Any ideas? Cheers Ben

Progress so far: -
Well, here she is! Took quite some time to complete, although the actual building time itself wasn't too long. Finished as a VAW-115 "Liberty Bells" aircraft. Ben

It's amazing how much you can do in a day when you are trying to avoid packing to go back to Uni.... Slight bummer here - the microsol seems to have affected the red paint and bit behind the decal and make it go pinkish - it looks worse in real life! That's it for now, probably until the weekend :) -

Progress! Looks like a lot, but all it is is black painted and varnished, then de-masking. :) Black on: THIS was nail-biting, removing all this tape. If the black had oversprayed onto the white or yellow, I'd be in trouble! Happily.... Maybe I should buy shares in Tamiya tape: I've just realised looking at the photos that I didnt mask a circle on the Port fuselage side for the roundel to sit in. But given I don't have a circular cutter, I'd probably have made a mess of it anyhow! I'll probably have her finished in a day or two at this speed, makes a change! :D -

Red sprayed and varnished in with Klear One of the best things about modelling - that great feeling when you de-mask and it has worked OK! Few small amounts of overrun on the tail, and undersides. I anticipated this (always happens to me!), so varnished the white before masking - all I had to do was gently scrape the excess red with a sharp scalpel to remove it. Started masking up for the yellow underside (getting the masking to run above the nose point was tricky, but I think it's a decent curve there. Time will tell! Yellow on: As DamienB pointed out over on FighterControl -
Morning all! I've been away from this site, and modelling for a year or so due to University work and other bits, but I've picked it up again recently and would like to share my latest work in progress :) This is Airfix's lovely Sea Vixen kit, using the Model Alliance decals to build RAE/Llanbedr target tug XS587 (today this is G-VIXN at Gatwick Aviation Museum) The actual aircraft (shame it had the canopy cover on!) Decals: And some initial work - cockpit was fantastic, but the seats were a bit sparse so I added tape straps to them. Fuselage completed: Main structure complete

Thanks! Yeah, those are AGM-130 training rounds - not too common to see those on the Lakenheath jets. Just before they came through we had them at two thousand feet over the top doing target practise, which I can only guess was with the AGM-130.

It wasn't this one of mine you were looking for was it? http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=214334&st=0&p=2035777entry2035777 Forgive my lack of modesty ( ), but I havn't seen too many other builds using Citadel colours. Ben

They departed this morning down to Sigonella as RCH1037 Flight. Off down somewhere sandy for a while.... However, it won't be too long before we have them here on a much more permanent basis. :)

Cheers guys - yep, these were just before sunset! Sunset local time was around 7:30PM, and the two Ospreys launched about two minutes before - cutting it close! By the time they had gone round the circuit, sun was below the horizon.

Well not exactly today, but over the last week I've seen these, all currently deployed at RAF Mildenhall: AC-130U 90-0163 AC-130U 89-1054 CV-22Bs 06-0033 and 08-0039 (08-0038 and 08-0037 are also here) Sorry for the image overdose - these are all pretty rare over here!

Hi all, This is effectively my 2010 build thread, as it's the only kit I've managed to complete this year, and then only just! Absolute dream of a kit, and my personal favourite of any I've done so far. Never had a good experience with matt varnishing the model after decalling, but for once it went well and I got what I think is a really nice finish. I've added a little bit of paint chipping and oil stains on the underside, but not much apart from that. I might add some smoke stains at a later time, if I feel it needs it (although looking through photos, the smoke stains on the Mk.IX never
