  1. Hi, thank you all! Hi Dave! I have used the same method as on the other Intruder. Preshading with Flat Black, paint with Light and Dark Ghost Gray according to the schema and finally the dirt. All paints were Gunze Acrylics. The "adding the dirt" step is a method I learned from HonzaK here on the ARC forum (as I remember he described it in his Phantom topic and illustrated with photos). It is mostly used for simulating faded paints. After painting the model with base color, you make the base color a little lighter (e.g. add some white to it) and paint random spots onto the surface (movin
  2. I hope you like this restoration project. BTW, as you can see, the decals are much more better on this one than on the previous one ;) Cheers, Zoli
  3. Hi everyone! I wrote this in February... since then the Intruder I was speaking about is almost done - only the flat coat is missing before the final assembly. I took a little more than ten photos but I hope it won't be repetitive. So I dug out the ten years old box and started...
  4. Hi! Thanks a lot, Walt! I didn't make any progress on the Phantom since 2011 January as life (job, family) and other models got in the way. I want to finish an A-6E Intruder and an Italeri 1/72 Super Hornet before getting back to this one - I'm hoping to make some progress in this year. Regards, Zoli
  5. Hi everyone, bothering you with a little gallery tonight... That's all, the birdie is finished. Cheers, Zoli
  6. Hi all, next pack of pictures... Next time I will post some "gallery" pictures about the finished model. Not my best one but I'm satisfied with the results of this build. Cheers, Zoli
  7. Hi all! Laz, James, thank you! James, neither of them. :) I have simply used a sharp pencil to go along all the lines. I also touched all the rivets one-by-one - and simply drew some rivets where they were missing. Pencil is easier to control than a wash and you do not need the clear coat - wash - flat coat step. It is good for me as I use Tamiya Flat White to paint the gear legs and doors. Cheers, Zoli
  8. Hi all, next part follows... A quick info about accuracy: the small data tables on the gear doors were just a "they would look good" decision, I had no any reference about whether anything like those really exist... Comments welcomed as always. Cheers, Zoli
  9. Hi BoneHammer73! Thank you! Unfortunately this is just a build diary - the model is already done by this time. And yes, I noticed the problem you mentioned but in the middle there's nothing to glue the doors onto - so finally I decided to glue them to the suggested - wrong - position. About tinting the paint: I didn't know these planes are not totally black - just wanted to avoid the "fresh paint" look. Cheers, Zoli
  10. Hi guys! Holmes, Laz, thank you! Mate, I was waiting for this exact question... :D Those builds are still WIP, along with an Apache AH-64D. Moreover, I'm just restoring a ten year old Italeri Intruder - almost finished, this will be posted first into my other Intruder topic. Diary part II... Cheers, Zoli
  11. Hi all, I got this kit from my parents as a present so it was a priority build... I didn't apply much scratchbuilding so the kit is basically OOB. It is finished now and I will post the photo diary of the build here. So let's start it... :) That's all for now. Comments welcome. Cheers, Zoli
  12. Hi Laz, fantastic progress! The interior looks great - nice scratchbuilding and painting! Keep it up! ;) I'm waiting for the new pictures - especially of the assembled interior before you close the fuselage... Cheers, Zoli
  13. Tripio, my friend, your model looks fantastic! Oh, and your helicopter is also a very nice one! ;) I'm waiting for the updates! One thought about fatherhood: you'll feel great when she will say the first (or any) time: "Daddy"... Having two little boys I know what I'm speaking about... ;) Best regards, Zoli
  14. Great attention even to the smallest details - very nice work. :) Szép munka! Cheers, Zoli
  15. Thank you all guys! :) I have another Italeri Intruder that was "FUBAR" (as they say it) in my early modeler days more than ten years ago. It was the airbrushing that turned out wrong on that one. As this build seems to be relatively good I decided to try to repair and finish that old one - against all odds. If the repair succeeds I will post a short photo report (not more than ten pictures) about that into this topic. If not - well, after sitting ten years in the box it will finally reach its destination, the trashcan. Cheers, Zoli
  16. continued from previous post...
  17. Hi! WOW, a lot of comments for the little Intruder! Thanks to you all - and to all the other people who commented it during the build as your comments helped me to keep this build moving! :D TBH, this model could be much better. There are a lot of little mistakes I made here and there - pin marks, seam lines, the "ghost decals" and in the final step I had to use a lot of glue for the wing folds (resulted small glue marks on the white surface). This is the reason why I call myself a "hobbist"... :D Apart from these problems it is still one of my best model to date and I am glad to finish
  18. Hi everyone! HOLMES, Kristian, Gregg and robw, thanks a lot! I have just finished the Intruder... Took some pictures of the final assembly. Included one picture of the finished model here. When the glue is fully cured I will try to take some better pictures of the finished model with white (or black?) background and better light conditions. Cheers, Zoli
  19. Hi! Andre, Laz, Gianni and Kristian, thank you! I hope this one will be one of the latest updates on the Intruder. The last painting session is finished and the assembly was started... Cheers, Zoli
  20. Hi everyone! Tomcat Tweeker, F-16rhs and Kristian, thank you! Time for a little update: HUD. Cheers, Zoli
  21. Hi everyone! I extensively used the razor saw during Xmas...check the results here. Hope you will like it. Cheers, Zoli
  22. Hi everyone! Jan, thanks again! Time for a little update to make this topic moving. Check the pictures... I hope you like this. Cheers, Zoli
  23. Hi everyone! Thanks a lot, rob! Time for a little update. The flat coat was sprayed on, the only thing to do before the final assembly is to paint the metal color onto the exhausts. For the photos I put in the seats... Cheers, Zoli
  24. Hi Neo, the usual mix almost everyone uses. Tempera (gouache, watercolor, don't know the exact English name) plus water plus a little bit of dishwashing detergent (only a very small amount, I put the tip of the brush into it and then stir it into the wash). I also tried it several times before I learned the right way to do it. There are three simple secrets: 1) After you brushed the wash on (I brush it directly into the panel lines and rivets) wait until it dries. 2) Check the panel line after the wash dries. If the color is too light, apply another layer on top of it. On the Intruder I di
