  1. Thanks mate, I'll check it out. Cheers, John
  2. Thanks Stephen, I'll have to buy one for myself. Be sure to post some shots here once you get your airbrush back! Spejic - a 1/72 version would be nice too.
  3. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. Laval66 - it would be a fun build! It's such a great looking aircraft. :) Stephen - how did the Bronco kit go together? Any pointers on building the kit? BTW, maybe someone will make a kit of the Avenger (Predator C): Avenger UAV Cheers, John
  4. Hi All, I posted this over on Hyperscale, but thought I'd post it here too. I think it would be great if a 1/48 MQ-9 Reaper was released in injection moulded plastic, with markings for military (USAF, USN and RAF) and non-military (NASA and US Customs and Border Protection Service) users. It's a significant and interesting looking aircraft. Does anyone know if Bronco intends to release a Reaper in 1/48 scale? Would anyone else like to see a kit of the Reaper? Cheers, John
  5. Thank you Vautour, I've registered. Thank you very much for posting the link - have a great Christmas. :) Cheers, John
  6. Hi Marcel, I got your PM - email sent. Cheers, John
  7. Hi Bill, It's indeed basic! I'm going to do mine as a wheels up one on a display stand. Thank you for heads up regarding the Airfix kit - I'll keep an eye out for it. Cheers, John
  8. Hi Marcel, Thanks mate, that's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. One additional detail I will have to add are new aerials - the SAAF Buccaneers have a different fit out. If anyone else is interested, I also found this page with walkaround photos of a SAAF Buccaneer: SAAF Buccaneer Cheers, John
  9. Hi All, What external modifications would I need to do to the Matchbox kit to turn it into an early South African machine? So far, I believe I would need to remove the bulged belly tank, add some ventral strakes and scribe in some doors for the retractable rocket engines (mind you, I'm a bit unsure of the size, shape and location of the strakes and doors). Are there any other details that I've overlooked? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, John PS I'm going to detail the cockpit using the Airwaves set.
  10. That looks great Steve! <_< Make sure you post plenty more pics. The kit sounds like it's a bit of a challenge to put together, but I'll keep an eye out for one on Ebay. You've done a great job so far! Cheers, John
  11. Hi Steve, I love it! You've done a great job of turning a concept aircraft into an operational machine. I can't wait to see the finished product. Whereabouts did you buy your kit by the way? I'd love to pick up one for myself one day. Cheers, John
  12. One day only? Wow! That's amazing - great work! Cheers, John
  13. That looks great! How did the kit go together? Are there any problem areas to look out for? I just won one on Ebay... Cheers, John
  14. Hi Guys, First of all, Happy New Year! Finn - thank you for the link, the profiles are great. They also give me some ideas for another project as well. The Rat and Phantom - I do like the white scheme, but wanted to try something different. I may have to buy a second kit! ChernayaAkula - I think we have a winner! The 730 would look very cool in that scheme, particularly with the Type B red and blue roundels. I'll print out a schematic of the 730 and sketch out the camouflage. Thanks again to you all. John
  15. Hi All, I've just ordered an Avro 730 kit from Fantastic Plastic, which I would like to do in a 'What If' scheme. Fantastic Plastic Avro 730 What colour scheme would be appropriate for an Avro 730 in service from the 1970s to early 1990s? So far I've come up with: The grey - green wrap around scheme with red and blue roundels and flashes. Hemp and light aircraft grey (I believe this was called the 'concrete' scheme) with largish pink and light blue roundels and flashes. Desert pink with 'small' pink and light blue roundels and flashes. Any other suggestions? I did think of an overa
  16. Hi Janman, Thanks for the info, I thought that would be the case. I'm going to pick up a copy of the Squadron Signal book on the Badger next week, so hopefully that'll provide me with enough information on the comms/ECM/ESM fit for the B model. I'll also have a look online for line drawings for the missiles used by the B - they should be relatively easy to scratchbuild in 1/144 scale. Thanks again for your help! Cheers, John
  17. Hi All, What modifications would be required to backdate Trumpeter's new 1/144 scale Badger G to a Badger B as used by the Indonesian Air Force? I assume it would be a relatively straight forward conversion? Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, John
  18. G'day Guys, I picked up the Anigrand Avenger II today. A quick review: it appears to have some minor fit and casting issues (some short shots), but no insurmountable problems. It looks pretty nice overall. The resin is nice and light. The wing fold detail looks good, but I will still fix the wings in place. I may try and solder up my own undercarriage, or alternatively steal a set from another kit. Any suggestions on a donor? Loftycomfort - I have considered a Gulf War II version? I haven't ruled that out entirely. Vesper - I've had the same problem logging in to the 'What
  19. Hi Guys, We have a winner! I'll finish it as an Avenger GR.1 (thanks Trigger) in 617 Squadron markings. I chose 617 squadron as: 1. The squadron insignia would be easy to replicate (primarily a lightning bolt). These will go on the rear canopy framing or on the gear doors. 2. It's a famous squadron (the Dambusters). 3. 617 used to fly the Avro Vulcan (continuity with delta wing strike platforms). It'll probably be finished in wraparound camouflage. Cheers, John
  20. Hi Guys, Thanks for your help. Vesper - thanks for the link! I've searched the 'What If' site and come up with some ideas for future projects as well as the A-12 one. Raptor Supporter - I think a Singaporean Avenger would look pretty good, particularly if it was done in the multi-coloured green and brown scheme. Not sure if that scheme is still current though, will have to do some research! Out of the original list, I think I've narrowed it down to an RAF or a Singaporean version. Thanks again to you all for your help! Cheers, John
  21. Hello to you all, Thank you very much for your replies and suggestions - I didn't expect so much interest! Trigger, your F-22J is a thing of beauty. The Raptor looks most cool in that scheme. I love the two tone blue JASDF scheme, but may not paint the Avenger in those colours, as I'm currently working on an F-23J , using the Dragon kit. I started to build the Italeri version, but the copy I have has seriously warped wings. I'll probably recycle it for a 'what if' UCAV project. The Avenger GR.1 in wrap around grey/green is very tempting. If I do an air force machine (any air force), I
  22. Greetings! I am thinking of doing the Anigrand A-12 Avenger II kit in a 'what if' scheme. I'm hoping to do it in a realistic scheme, as if it went into production and was bought by a number of services. So far I've come up with the following list of potential users: 1. Royal Air Force and Royal Navy 2. USMC 3. Italian Navy 4. JASDF 5. Royal Australian Air Force 6. IASF - Israeli Air and Space Force 7. Singaporean Air Force I'm trying to avoid painting it grey if I can. The RN and RAF versions in particular would present a problem - there are no places to put the squadron markings
  23. Hi Guys, Thank you very much for the replies - much appreciated! Diego - thanks for the info on the mirror and the ejector seat. I've been studying pictures of PFMs and missed the mirror, and had forgotten about the ejector seat. Laurent - you are quite right! PFMs had the wide chord fin, another detail I'd missed. Netz - very interesting! I think I'll use your approach, as I intended to buy the MF kit for the canopy. Thanks to all again! ARC really is a great site! :) Cheers, John
  24. Greetings! Apart from a new canopy, what external modifications would be required to convert the Academy 1/48 MiG-21PF to a MiG-21PFM? I picked up the Academy kit recently and am looking at doing it in either Mongolian or North Vietnamese markings. Cheers, John
  25. The 1/72 Maquette model of the Fairey Delta FD.2 has line drawings on the back of the instructions. The drawings look pretty good, and include rivet detail. I bought this kit from NKR Models in Australia recently (it's very cheap!). Cheers, John
