  1. One and only picture, just to show you what I was after those last days. You'll have understand it, the progress margin is ENORMOUS! I've had my share of accidents, among them a varnish session turning the figs into white creatures, and other things like that. I'll try to finish them quickly now, only some small alterations and that will be enough, time to do something else. Sorry for the lack of step by step pics, but with all those coming back and forth, they would have been useless. but the compensation for this mediocre result, there are numerous profits. They were my first figs, it'
  2. The fuselage looks now much better. It's quite correct, but the shape is now quite bizarre. I don't reaaly care, because it's not so visible, and mainly underside. I've glued the wings, and you can see that problems are far from being over. Underside, same thing, just far worse. Solution, to glue thin styrene rods, I think.
  3. While trying to scratch a new stick, I came upon the old one, hidden down in the fuselage. Compared to the documentation, the shape is not so good, but on the paint, and off to the pit it went. Then, gluing session. Everythins get on together well, the only problem being the cockpit fit to the fuselage. The main thing is to get a good fit on the upper side, which is possible, but then the underside look not so good.
  4. I've received some documentation. Continuation on the cockpit. As planned, I've used mainly drybrush, for a nice result to my eyes.
  5. Continuing the faces. I did a try at highlighting, followed by painting the eyes. Looks like they're both coming out of a mangas!!! Seeing this picture, I can measure my progress margin!!! But... I'm not completely disappointed, as they look convincing, still, when not seen from close-up, or with magnifier. There's light at the end of the tunnel! I'm sorry, a this topic cease to be a step by step, as I'm not too confident with different techniques to paint figs, and so practice trials and errors (Many of them). Comments and suggestion welcome.
  6. I was aiming at a quick paint and build for the pit, using the decals (they're very nice) for the instrument panels, but seeing the details of those small pieces give me the will to have a try at painting the small details. Off the decals! The seat seems not to be as top notch as the rest, but I don't really know as I don't have documentation to compare. The stick is beautiful considering the scale.
  7. And the last two, included the clear one, for the -3P.
  8. Two sprues common to all versions (Fujimi did also the F7U-3 et le F7U-3M).
  9. A quick look at the instruction sheet. Camo options. I'll do this one.
  10. Hello, I'm building this kit for a GB on a French forum. This is a not so young fujimi kit, but still up to date in my opinion. I'd choose this kit because: - It does belong to one of my predilection themes, recce. - I need to come back to 1/72. - It will give me an opportunity to practice metal finish. Let's go. Boxart.
  11. Then, work with oils. A wash is disposed on the faces, then let to dry. Preparing the mix for flesh colour. The proportions are 3/2/1 from left to right.
  12. After sanding the surfacer, a coat of vallejo grey primer. Then the serious things. As I'm a beginner for painting figs, I've searched and found inspiration here and there. I'll try to explain what I'm doingas best as possible. Sorry for the bad quality pics, I'll correct it for the next round. So, after the grey primer, I airbrush a base coat of mixed white/desert yellow, to get nearer to flesh colour than the grey.
  13. Just sarted the figs. Parts cut off the sprues, big sanding session (More than one hour for those two guys), gluing the parts together, a bit of putty, and a small coat of surfacer 500 on certain places. I keep the heads appart for the moment. Just a bit of sanding here. They doesn't look like they're happy, Sergueï and Leonid... Tomorrow, sanding, and a coat of vallejo primer.
  14. I must start to repair this mess. First, mark the zone. Then, light curring putty. A bit difficult to apply precisely, there'll be more than one round. Ensuite, badigeon au light curring putty tamiya. In the meantime, don't forget the weight.
  15. They're F-2B. And of the eighteen, at least six are repairable. So we're far from the whole Japanese fleet of F-2A wiped out.
  16. Thanks for the comments, I should have known. Previous dry-fitting made me thinks that I could handle it that way. I'm considering to unstuck (?) the whole thing. By the way, do not hesitate to correct my bad english, I'm still learning modelling vocabulary.
  17. Yes, it could work, if you take great care gluing the halfes point by point.
  18. The result. Quite bad above. And evenworse under!
