The 800kg bomb used by high-level bombers LATER IN THE WAR was NOT made from the 16 inch naval shell. It had a steel casing with large rivets. These were two DIFFERENT weapons. The 800kg bomb used at Pearl had a taper...the other weapon did NOT have a taper.     Yes, this is correct FS*1136...prick your finger for this red color. Now that you have pricked your finger...watch it as it drys...and note the color turn darker...which is the top side red cited by Don Thorpe and other old timers in Japanese color research. the TOPSIDE red color has darkened and the undersurface red was still fairly bright.Old timers will note that Hinomaru decals from AUTHENTICALS (IPMS/NorCal, circa 1967) showed the dark blood red color...and were mimicked by later decal makers.
