  2. Bit of an obscure subject this but can anyone point me in the right direction on this topic? My dad was in the Royal Air Force from 1943 to 1947, then in the RAFVR until 1953. In his active service career in Germany he flew Hawker Tempests. In 1951 he was sent to Oakington to refresh with 1.FTS, then to North Luffenham with 102 FRS (Flying Refresher School) to convert to jets - namely the Vampire 5 which I understand was then the front-line jet attack type. As part of this conversion he spent 20 hours in the Spitfire Mk.22. This included PK651 as M-45, PK431 as M-41, and PK-371 as M-46. Some
  3. Hey, that's my photo, I took that 23 years ago, never would have dreamed it would be referenced on a modelling forum :) Anyway, mental note to self, next time take a *photograph* of the centreline tank as well!
  4. Hi, I am the snapper who took that photo in AMARC back in 1989. I remember researching 59-1759's current status when I scanned the film negative for Airliners.Net in 2005 and it was a bit vague. This information is really useful and I will update the photo remark. It would really be something to see a 'Thud' in the air! Thanks both Jon and David.
