  1. Dear Modellers I finally managed to get this shake and bake kit together. Was a loong shaking period, thats for sure. Tamiya Kit in 1/48 scale. Eduard Cockpit inside with Quinta Decals, Reedoak Pilots, KA and Reskit exhaust mix. Nose cam and probes aftermarket, Eduard Missiles Models. Tamiya and Gunze acrylic colours and a lot of oils on top of it. No washing worth mentioning Enjoy Oh, it isn`t dead on accurate, but i don`t care (edit: anymore) I just wanted a grimey, grey Tomcat with the Skull n Bones-Scheme, since my wish for a Tomcat model
  2. Got back into modeling recently after a 20 year break. Mostly building modern fighter jets in 1/32 scale. I’ve enjoyed learning to use an airbrush and practicing all kinds of weathering techniques. I’m about to start weathering a USN F/A-18. I had some success weathering along panel lines with slight hints of burnt umber and mineral spirits on the F-4 I just completed. My question is: If I do that on this F-18 and wait for it to fully dry, can I then come back and do some more oil stippling and color filtering on different panels without affecting the first dried layer? Or will the mineral spi
  3. Morning! So I am not a newb but I am no expert in model building either. I am trying a new technique on my Trumpeter 1/32 F4U-1D... hairspray technique. I am going for a well-used and weathered look in the Pacific. I work primarily with an airbrush and acrylic paints. I primed the model in black, then went over with aluminum in some places and interior green in others. Here was my plan moving forward: Hairspray over the aluminum and interior green -> then white coat and black on panel lines -> then thinned top coats so the panel lines show through
  4. Ok, question... fading the paint... I want to give the paint scheme and decals an overall “faded” look. I read that you can lightly wet down a model, sprinkle it liberally with rock salt, then spray a “filter layer” lightly over that. Brush away the salt when it dries and it gives a faded look. Has anyone tried this? Is there a better way?
  5. Hello fellas In the salt weathering technique tutorial I will show you how I use this technique to fade and weather the camouflage of my scale model aircraft. This technique is now on important part of my weathering process and I recommend it to everyone who wants to step his game up. 6. Hey everyone, Im new here. Just joined today :) So nice to be here among all of you awesome modelers. Thanks for this great forum. Just recently I finished Tamiya's amazing F-16 in 1/48. This would be my 3rd plane I've ever done. My experience is mostly with armor, so this was definitely a lot of fun and learning experience. Enjoy my friends
