Nige GSX1400 UK
Can anyone recommend alternatives for the camoflage scheme on Revells SU27 kit? I am doing either Option 1. an SU27B (14) at Kilp Yavr AFB 1st Squadron 941 IAP-PVO Spring 2000 or Option 2. an SU27B (16) same details but Autumn 1999. Fr the underneath they recommend 50% matt light grey 76 + 50% matt light green 55. Above its mainly 75% Patine Green Silky Matt 365 + 25% White matt 5 with 75% light green matt 55 + 20% white matt 5 +5% blue matt 56. Revells colours just dont seem right somehow. Hopefully someone can recommend Tamiya or Humbrol equivalents, as I have these in abundance. Cheers Nige
janman
You could try along these lines. If you have any reference pics of the real bird, check them out and mix the paints accordingly. Hu-47 (instead of the suggested 89) is also a pretty nice colour for the underside light blue if you add a bit of white. I'm not sure about the planes in question, but usually the pattern and colours are the same. Shades vary a lot dueto wear, so as said, mix according to your own eye. Piotrek.S.
Try ModelMaster Authentic enamels. Link HERE
Nige GSX1400 UK
Try ModelMaster Authentic enamels. Link HERE Thanks for the advice both. I had noticed the paint does fade badly on Russian asircraft in comparison to some others. But I am going with your suggestions and a copy of the testors page. Andre
I had noticed the paint does fade badly on Russian asircraft in comparison to some others. A nice effect I sometimes try to replicate is that in the harsher parts of Russia the cockpit area of Flankers is often covered with a canvas tarp, so that area ends up noticably less faded than the rest of the airframe.
