messy60
Hey guys, i've im trying to find pics of the ACMI pod that you might find on, oh let's say an F-16 during something like Red Flag. I've seen several different pics, but i'm trying to find out what is on the front end of the pod. In some pictures it looks like a couple of U shaped rods that stick out in 3 or 4 directions around the front. in some, it looks like strait rods that stick out in 4 directions. Does anybody have any clear pictures? Thanks! Jason
David Walker
This is the best I've been able to find: Here's some more information about this particular type: http://www.drs-tcs.com/brochures/urits.pdf Edited January 30, 2008 by David Walker
UKPonchoMan
Think there are some photos in Jake Melampy's F-16 book
Dave Williams
They seem to have gone through various looks over time. The early ones didn't have any probes sticking out of the sides of the nose. Later ones seem to have added large elongated 'U' shaped wire probes, and the more recent ones I've seen have the rods as seen above.

jmel
Thanks for all the help fellas! Now to figure out which one to do! Jason There are many types in use, from the basic ACMI pod, up to the URITS and TSBI pods. All essentially do the same thing, but have more or less capabilities from other models. All types are designed to work with a specific capability that a given range possesses. Not all pods can be fully integrated with all ranges. And, yes, photos of the different pods are in both my F-16 and A-10 books. Jake
