Laurent
Issue: mishapen windscreen, simplified nose Real world: http://data.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_col...0HuAF%20004.JPG The windscreen goes into the nose. The front fuselage profile has two kinks: slight kink at the front fuselage-radome junction and the radome is biconical. Italeri The windscreen doesn't go into the nose enough. Italeri has oversized the canopy and the fit isn't good. ICM corrected this but they did not touch the windscreen (same base curvature, same height, same length). Pavla sells a vacuformed copy of the ICM transparencies. It's useful on the Italeri kit but it doesn't correct the windscreen shape issue. Comments on drawings: Correction work will require some but they aren't equivalent... - http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/mig29.html (Zlinek drawings ?): the canopy area looks close to reality to me, the double top nose kink is there but perhaps too important - http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/mig29-2.html: Polygon book drawings. The angle between the vertical and base windscreen frames is too widely rounded (big radius of curvature). In reality the angle is sharper. Ex: http://data.primeportal.net/hangar/sergey_...13_05_of_33.jpg - http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/mig29s.html: 4+ book drawings. The curvature of the windscreen base frame is too important at the front so seen from the top, the front base is expected to look square. No kink between front fuselage and radome. Correcting issues: WIP soon (nothing started yet).
sv51macross
Still looks a heckuvalot better than the smooshed one on the 9-13 kits.
Laurent
Still looks a heckuvalot better than the smooshed one on the 9-13 kits. The ICM-tooled 9.13 is a modified copy of the Italeri kit so the shape issues are the same (except the properly sized wheels and canopy, accurate panel lines, etc). Reminder. haneto
I used the OLD ICM/Condor/Eastern Express MiG-29 kit as the base for master making,to try my best to make my Fulcrum to look as closer as possible to the real thing. Please ignore the hump behind the canopy——it bubles too much so still inaccurate. What I need is only the windshield and canopy. The real part of the canopy is too low so you can find the white things on the top of the canopy——plastic sheet after sanding. And this is the heat pressed windshield/canopy made from the master above. You still have to drig the Italeri/ICM front fuselage to fit the windshield, but at least that's one way to get your Fulcrum looks real, but not so odd. My 2 cents, Yufei Edited June 12, 2009 by haneto
haneto
About the nose things,BTW,Laurent,Quickboost released a resin correction nose for Italeri/ICM MiG-29.
172flogger
Terrible fit Condor/old tool ICM was also sold under Czech Kitpro and Aeroteam brands. And reissued by Směr now with nice boxart. Was Intech (Poland) from same moulds ? Pavla canopy for Italeri/BÃÂlek and ICM: http://www.modelingmadness.com/scotts/deta...pavla/v7267.htm
haneto
Pavla canopy for Italeri/BÃÂlek and ICM: Unfortunately,it seems Pavla Models just use the wrong shape on original kit as the master. Nothing solved except the thickness of the clear plastic......
Laurent
Nothing solved except the thickness of the clear plastic...... Not true. The original Italeri canopy is oversized. ICM corrected this and Pavla copied the ICM part. Not really an improvement in accuracy but rather in ease of build. Edited June 13, 2009 by Laurent
Laurent
Italeri fuselage half, ICM transparencies. The white plastic card at the base of the windscreen will be the the windscreen base frame. I've added plastic so plastic card to the canopy top so that it's more bubble shaped. The vertical frames of the windscreen and canopy are also more swept forward.
