Jay Hornet Fan
I want to build a 1/32 BF-109G2 that was captured by 3SQN RAAF in the middle east and then taken back to the UK to become the famous Black 6. As I do not model WWII German subjects I have very little knowledge of the G series BF-109 I know that Promodeller made a G4 and I could use that but can I also use a Hasegawa G6 (without the nose blisters)? Any advice would be great. Cheers Jason
Jennings
The G-2 used the thinner spoked main wheels (like the E & F), and didn't have the bulges over the wheel wells that the G-6 had. It also had a retractable tail wheel that the G-6 didn't. You can't (accurately) just leave stuff off a G-6 to get a G-2. J Edited November 2, 2009 by Jennings
Dave Williams
I think you are better off with the Promodeler G-4 kit. It has the proper nose gun panel for the MG17s (not the same as the MG131 panel). It also has early type wheels.
D Bellis
The ProModeler (Hasegawa) Bf 109G-4 kit is the one I used to build Walter Krupinski's Bf 109G-2. Mods to make: 1) Use the spoked wheels. 2) Leave off the upper wing bumps. 3) Replace the tail wheel and strut with an E style unit. (I didn't, and regret it.) 4) Open up the tail wheel well. 5) Minor filling & scribing of various small panels on the fuselage. (Use the drawings on Lynn Ritger's 109 Lair for reference.) Jay Hornet Fan
Thanks very much for the info everyone. I just got a Hasegawa Bf 109G4 off eBay and based on your advice I should be able to make the G2. Cheers Jason
