Blackcollar
Hi Folks; Well, I'm going to take a trip on the wild side and go for a jet... For the sabre experts out there.. Would anyone have the colour fodes for: 1. Air intake; 2. Wheel well, and air brakes (FS 34151 interior green)? 3. Cockpit, light grey? Thanks in advance -Al

AX 365
Al, I've built a few Sabre 5's and 6's. Here is what I use... Intake - dark aluminum - I use Alclad II when I paint them - most times I use FOD covers on intake and exhaust openings Wheel wells - Interior green - FS34151 Cockpit - flat black Mike
Jennings
Here's what James Craik said a couple of years ago. He used to work on RCAF Sabres, so I take his word as gospel on the subject. On the subject of the cockpit, there are photos of Canadairs with both black and grey cockpits. It is my belief that Canadair followed the basic USAF policy, such that after late 1953 (probably somewhat later in Canada), the previously black cockpits switched to medium grey *at the factory*. I've got a Mk.6 underway, and it's going to have a grey cockpit. J 1/8/09 Subject: Re: Next Canadair Sabre Question du jour... Date: Wed, 7 Jan 2009 18:28:02 -0500 None of the Mk5s or 6s came off the assembly line with the sugar scoops, they were installed as a field modification,58/59.The only Mk5s with them were in Canada. If you are building 23546,you can build it with a hard wing,no scoops slatted wing no scoops,or slatted wing with scoops. All Mk5s and 6s had Sqn.codes on the fuslage prior to 1959,after that, R.C.A.F. Jim Subject: Sabre Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 08:19:51 -0500 Â I worked on the Mk5s and 6s in Germany and Canada, the wheel wells were natural metal and the brake wells were green, similar to Testors 1734Â green zinc chromate. Just the wells, the inside side of the brakes were natural metal. Cheers Jim Craik Edited October 13, 2010 by Jennings
