C-130CrewChief Posted November 16, 2010 Share Posted November 16, 2010 It's just that the Marines are to most Americans, a sign of our greatness, strength, and resolve. They are an important symbol. You have several things that just scream AMERICAN when you see it. The Statue of Liberty, Mt Rushmore, The Whitehouse, and a United States Marine, just to name a few. I would rather see the USAF and the Army join back up then lose another symbol of America. No one says we should shut down and stop maintenance on the Washington Monument to save money now, do they? Politics aside... Symbols are important, and I am more than willing to pay for the honor of having a Marine watch my back. Just the threat of being able to say "send in The Marines" is scary as H-E double hockey sticks!! I feel comfort knowing we have Marines.
