ChernayaAkula
Correct but it was originally designed as an air defense counter to the B-70. When the F-15 was in development, it's proponents made out the MiG-25 to be the ultimate fighter in the air when in reality, it was a very un-manuverable aircraft with a limited radar / weapons system (especially in it's early versions). It's supporters used this imaginary "fighter gap" to get the political support in place for the F-15. Built for a top speed around Mach 3 and it turns out not to be very manoeuvrable? Colour me surprised! Either someone at McDD was a brilliant sales rep or someone really wanted to be sold on the F-15. :D
fulcrum1
That book Mig pilot is a great read. Easy to armchair QB a huge unknown back then. Until that Foxbat landed in Japan we didn't know a thing about it.
