Jeff M.
What's a good way to replicate Dzus fasteners, such as on Tamiya's 1/48 P-47? I lost the detail when sanding a seam on the forward potion of the fuselage. Jeff
PlasticWeapons
Use a beading tool. They look like this: http://www.lacywest.com/53160.jpe Here's a sample I just did with one of the tools. Push into plastic and "Dzus fastener!" Hope that helps. dnl42
Archer Fine Transfers has Dzus fasteners for 1/32 and 1/48 scale. These are rub-on transfers, so they provide surface texture. No affiliation; I have their products for 1/48 tanks.

dnl42
UMM carries a set of beading tools. No affiliation. I suppose It Depends on the specifics if a beading tool is sufficient. One would definitely work for a rivet, as all you see if the countersunk head in the hole. A Dzus fastener though, could have more detail; if the detail is just the slot (e.g., this one on a PV-2D), then a blade or scribe would do. What did Tamiya do for the detail? Otto
Those are the exact same ones and that is a fantastic deal. They are ALL made by Panther in Germany out of Hi-Grade steel. I just ordered them from this web site here, and you can buy individual tools for $1.08 the problem is that shipping is $12 but I guess UMM has shipping charges also. I wish I would have seen this UMM first I would have bought it from him. http://search.store.yahoo.net/yhst-86144623803941/cgi-bin/nsearch?query=beading+tools&searchsubmit=GO&vwcatalog=yhst-86144623803941&.autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fb2bprofessionaltools.com%2F
