CivicSiKL
Hi Everyone, Title pretty much says it all. I have an AIM-7 spare but that's about it. I'd like to add a LANTIRN, Aim-9X set and two GBU-31's. I am fairly certain this was a true load out for that time. What weapons sets from Hasegawa do I need for this though, not only for ordnance but for launchers as well. Also - are there other weapons sets out there? I'm not committed to Hasegawa. Thank you, Kyle
squezzer
I am pretty sure the 9x was not in use on the F-14. Someone has more info? The other important info you have to give is the scale. Regards Edited January 3, 2014 by squezzer
gb_madcat_sl
LANTIRN and GBU-31 are in Weapon Set D. The Tomcat did not employ the AIM-9X. You'll need the AIM-9M. Mark
Parabat
As above, have a look at getting the Eduard AIM-9L/M set if you're modelling in 1/48, they're fantastic.
CivicSiKL
Great points everyone. This will be in 1/72. I'm sure this changes what sets are available. Great to know the 9X wasn't used. Thanks again, Kyle
achterkirch
The hasegawa weapon sets are your best friend here. Two of them will give you all the weapons that you wanted to do. X72-09 has the AIM-9M's and X72-12 Has the GBU-31's, the lantirn pod and the pylons along with the BOL rails to mount the sidewinders on. Hope this helps
CivicSiKL
This helps a ton. Thanks! Regards, Kyle
Parabat
Don't forget X72-11 for the bomb racks, unless you are happy to scratch build them and save some cash. ;)/> Really nice break down of the Hasegawa weapons sets on this site - http://www.andysmodels.me.uk/models/HS_Weapons_72.htm Edited January 4, 2014 by Parabat

CivicSiKL
Thanks guys. Given that now I'll have both X72-11 and X72-12, what is a good load out for VF-31 during OIF? I've read a few different things here. I just found a set of TwoBobs decals, really looking forward to this build. Regards, Kyle
Parabat
From starboard to port; AIM-9M, LTS(LANTIRN),fuel tank, GBU-12 Paveway II (times 2 or 4) OR GBU-31 JDAM, fuel tank, AIM-54C (early on in OIF, later on they kept the Phoenix pylon but it was empty), AIM-9M. CivicSiKL
Thanks again for this input. Was it always one or the other with the GBU-12 and GBU-31? Was it ever two of each or another combination? This is great info!
Parabat
I had one of each on mine... http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=267982&pid=2545306&st=0entry2545306 ;)
