Antoine
Here on Navy Recognition. Any official informations about that on the US side of the pond?
STEN8
It is going to be a LONG deployment for the French sailors who have never served on a dry ship. Josephus Daniels rears his head again! Harry Lutz, FL
Antoine
From the many books I've read about naval ops during the Vietnam war, I've learned that the carriers were not so dry... A legend?
Sarathi S.
Gotta remember Vietnam was 40 years ago. A lot's changed.
Antoine
They now set up liquor detector when boarding the ship?
Platycqb
It is going to be a LONG deployment for the French sailors who have never served on a dry ship. Josephus Daniels rears his head again! Harry Lutz, FL Dry ship as No booze on board? Sweet Bejezus, the Frenchies are going to die (or smuggle some cases of beer as I would expect them to do).
Litvyak
They'll all get prescriptions for wine from their doctors, it's an essential part of their diet. :)
STEN8
As dry and dusty as the inside of a Pharaoh's tomb. Once those mooring lines are cast off, it is a very, very long time between six-packs. Or corks, for that matter.
Antoine
As dry and dusty as the inside of a Pharaoh's tomb. Once those mooring lines are cast off, it is a very, very long time between six-packs. Or corks, for that matter. I'm sure they'll find a solution. Rafale fitted as COD, it's been done before! Well, they'll have to work a bit on the barrel's streamline....
STEN8
The trap will play hell with the sediments on the older reds, although you could get a lot of Louis Jadot into a Rafale's drop tank! Harry Lutz, FL
Antoine
Experience speaking?
STEN8
If that old frigate's fan room walls could talk!! Can't speak about "O" country - but in 1st Division, in the early seventies, a drink at sea was a rare and fondly embraced occurrence. And I didn't know enough about red wine to worry about decanting it. Like I said, our comrades in the war against barbarism are most likely in for a long, very dry time on any USN bird farm There was an emergency ration of bourbon, as I recall... Fondly. Antoine
I'm sur you know more than me about wine!!! I'm better in the whisky class... Whatever, most of our young pilots must be used to it, as they learned the ropes of carrier aviation flying from Meridian. For their Green Shirts, that will be another story....
