nickdanger
Aloha and welcome to the Spitfire 80th Anniversary Group Build, Since the Spitfire's first flight on March 5, 1936, it came to not only symbolize the fighting spirit of the British people during the darkest days of the Battle of Britain, but was quickly recognized as an aesthetically beautiful creation. Flown by more than three dozen air forces throughout its service, the Spitfire constantly evolved through 24 marks with a number of variants and was the most produced British aircraft of all time, with just over 20,000 built. Rules for the group build are pretty straight forward: Build a Spitfire Any scale Any operator What-ifs allowed OOB or loaded with after-market extras - up to you (I'm cheap so my add-ons are rare and usually limited to decals) Started during March 1 - Sept 1, 2016 Prizes There will be TWO gift certificates ($25 and $75) to an online model/hobby store (Squadron, Spruebrothers, Eduard, etc) awarded via lottery at the end of the GB. Each Spitfire completed (build thread + Completed Builds post) will earn a participant ONE lottery ticket*. It IS possible to win both prizes, though I'll pull for the winner of the $25 prize first and that ticket will be discarded before pulling for the grand prize. Winners will have their prizes by Battle of Britain Day, 9/15/16. I'm ineligible *Yes you could do dozens of 1/144 Spits, but cmon, really? The 1/48 and 1/32 Spitfire kits of the last few years have been stellar.

nickdanger
how about sets building of which has been begun earlier? Nope. I'd prefer that everybody start between March 1 and September 1, 2016. That being said, we're on the honor system here.

Litvyak
Would this include Seafire?
nickdanger
I think Seafires are legit, considering that their full name was Supermarine Sea Spitfire. Go for it !
