madcow
Hi guys, I was wondering about the accuracy of the Hobby Boss 1/32 Il-2m with the green/black camo. The kit seems to depict a post-August 1943 Il-2m, but the paint scheme is from pre-August 1943 if I'm not mistaken. I was wondering if that camo scheme is correct for that plane or not. Floggerman
I'd say, it's not correct. On the other hand, in these wartimes nearly all was possible. Maybe this is instructive: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il-2.htm
madcow
Thanks. I've been checking that website and that's where my information about the Il-2 comes from. I guess I'll go withe the other scheme offered by Hobby Boss.
PFlint
I was wondering about the accuracy of the Hobby Boss 1/32 Il-2m with the green/black camo. probably not ; most kits get colors and patterns wrong The kit seems to depict a post-August 1943 Il-2m, but the paint scheme is from pre-August 1943 if I'm not mistaken. you will only see NKAP template schemes on the swept wing 'so strelkio' planes made after April/May 1944 I was wondering if that camo scheme is correct for that plane or not. that would depend on the specific aircraft being modeled. PFlint
not familiar with that machine.:( you could remove the rear gunner's canopy and shorten the radio mast and this scheme would be acceptable. if the kit comes with the early gunner's canopy you could also use that. Mfezi
It may be the aircraft in the background on the photo of White 29 from 74 ShAP about halfway down this page (just search for "31" on the page): http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il2-camo/il-2m/il2m-early1943.htm If so, it is missing the white diagonal line on the vertical tail. There are some photos and a discussion of the second kit option (White 24 from 8 Gv. ShAP) on the same page. There is also a full discussion of that scheme here: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il2-camo/8gvshap-24al/8gvshap-24al.html
