roym
Hi all. A local museum is planning an audio/visual display on WW2 airpower and as part of this requires some models to be hung from a ceiling. I am planning to refurbish some built 1/72 models I obtained with a stash sale a few years back. These are ideal as; 1: I don't have much WW2 stuff myself and 2: for the purposes it won't matter too much how rough they look. If they get broken it's no great loss. They are built to a fair/good standard but the painting leaves a bit to be desired. I can repaint but then decals are a problem. Some are painted OK but the decals are falling off. I don't have replacements. So looking for any suitable major markings for the following (no need for stencils they won't be seen). If you have any surplus decals for the following; Any Avro Lancaster bomber, Matchbox Wellington bomber version, Matchbox Me110D, Matchbox F4U-4 Matchbox He115, Spitfire mk9 Matchbox tempest mk6 Any P-47D razorback Airfix Meteor 3 I will gladly take them. Old kit decals are fine, no need for expensive aftermarket ones here. I'll cover costs or trade. I'll also post photos here for anyone interested Thanks, Roy. andyf117
I can almost certainly cover the list except for the two German subjects... ....I will go through my folders tomorrow morning, and get back to you...

andyf117
Hi Roy After going through my decals folders, I'm able to offer these - apologies for the poor pic, it's dull and wet here this morning: Middle and upper left: sections of Airfix and Matchbox Lancaster, which between them provide a replacement C1 fuselage roundel for; Middle top: Matchbox Wellington - I appear to have removed the diagonal from the letters 'N', but you could cobble new ones together using the letters 'H' and 'A'; Top right: Revell issue of the Matchbox F4U-4 - but as that's a post-war aircraft, to its left is the HobbyBoss F4U-1 sheet; Bottom right: Matchbox P-47D; Middle bottom: Two Matchbox Spitfire IX - original and later IX/XVI version; Bottom left: Airfix Bf109E & He-111 sheet from BoB set which could be used in lieu of actual Me110 & He115 decals. In similar fashion, the 'spare' Spitfire markings could be adapted for the Tempest, for which I can also throw in a Typhoon sheet - I'd forgotten that I'd sold my Tempest kits and accessories as a job lot over a year ago... roym
Hi Andy. That's great what do you want for them?
andyf117
Was just looking through some of your previous posts to see if we have any common interests where you might have something that I need... ....and viewed a 'Wanted' thread - are you also still looking for Xtradecal X008-72? I have an unused sheet, complete with correction insert - although oddly, that part has some yellowing to it:
roym
Always welcome spook stuff. Although if it's like the other sheet from around the same time, the glue goes milky yellow a few weeks after you've put the decals on!
andyf117
I had that happen with some old Modeldecal items - my 'trick' was to leave them sitting in hot water long enough to effectively soak the glue off...
