Drifterdon Posted July 10 Share Posted July 10 I have several of the Academy 1/48 T-33 kits that I'd like to build up but am curious what others have done to fix the flap well up under the fuselage. It's an open hole that goes into the fuselage. I'm currently building the F-94B which uses essentially the same wing and has same issue. For the F-94 I am building it with the flaps up. I'd like to have dropped flaps on the T-33's. Please don't tell me to get the Great Wall Hobby kit as I already have several of the Academy kits along with AMS resin wheel-wells, vac canopy's and True Details wheels. All this was purchased before GWH came out with their wonderkit. Can't afford to just chuck all the Academy stuff for one GWH kit. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I trying to find a better photo of the flap well area but am coming up short. It is a simple structure of just ribs and stringers with a rod running the length of the well where the flap control attaching links are connected to. I too have been trying to find a clear pic of the flap well area. Not sure but I may be forced to get at least one of the GWH T-33 kits to see how they address this issue then try and replicate it for the Academy kits. Craig Baldwin Posted July 10 Share Posted July 10 Digging through my T-33 pics only came up with this one I took myself of a Canadair T33. You can see the short links going up inside the flap well to which they would attach to the flap actuation mechanism. Their were 4 links for each flap with the previous photo better serving to visualize the spacing, as the inboard two were slightly closer together. Silver primer that I remember for the colour. I have a PDF copy of an RCAF T33 Mk3 pilot AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS but no diagrams in there illustrate anything useful for the modeller. As well nothing with a diagram in a 1958 AIRFRAME TRAINING MANUAL. Good luck with the build. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
