Revell clear coat(Be Aware)

Recommended Posts

I attempted to use the Revell brand clear coat.

I tested it on the bottom of a F-16 Agressor and F-2B.

The clear coat appeared to be flat. Cool, I can finish my jets and take the tape off.

The models have been curing for weeks.

The models started to frost and the decals shrinking. I noticed about an hour later.

Thought they were ruined, so lets try a different brand of clear coat and see what happens.

I sprayed both models with Tamyia brand gloss coat. After working on other models for awhile. The decals were clear as before I used the Revell

brand clear coat. The frosting was gone also.

I put them away and will buy some other kind of "Dull Coat". I heard , Revell/ Testors changed their paint formulas. Now they just suck all around.

Glad I was able to recover the planes. Just leave them shiny. Any more crap sprayed on them, will probably result in orange peeling.
