toadwbg
Can someone answer weather VF-41 used the F-14A or B from 1995- OEF? I've got a copy of World Air Power's Grumman F-14 Tomcat which has some stories of this squadron being the first "Bombcat" during Kosovo in 1995, but it never really states if it is a true "B" Tomcat. Also, the CAM decal sheet identifies VF-41 as an "A: model during OEF. Smells like a B, but looks like an A? Can anyone clarify?
siesta3
VF-41 flew A models .... read the book Black Aces High.. all about their Kosovo missions
Jonathan_Lotton
VF-41 never got the B model. They should have gotten the D!..but alas, they only got the F-14A, and had them all along, right up untill they transitioned to the F-18F
Darren Roberts
The term "Bombcat" simply means that the aircraft can carry iron. All versions of the Tomcat (A,B,D) are capable of carrying bombs, so the term "Bombcat" can apply to all of them.
toadwbg
Thanks folks! I think that settles it. Still need to find some F-14B decals for my build however!
The_Animal
VF-41 NEVER ever got the B or the D model Tomcat. toad. I wish they did, but they never did. Black Aces High and Global Security can verify that the Black Aces flew strictly "A" models.
